In
1991 I took a course in Seattle [Tacoma technically] at the University of Puget
Sound. I learned all about vocal health and longevity from the Voice Care
Network, of which I am still a member. This course dispels a lot of myths about
vocal technique, and replaces them with solid technique based on scientific
principles and anatomical studies. It vastly improved my own vocal technique, as
well as my ability as a voice instructor, and I highly recommend it for anyone
who wants to know what is REALLY happening inside the voice box during singing. |

Well,
after teaching and directing choirs for more than 6 years, I was quickly coming
to realize that as much as I loved my work, I was not really making enough money
to survive. I decided I needed to look into some other field.
The
summer of 1992 I heard about a program in Electroacoustic music techniques at
McGill University in Montreal. I decided to take the course and had 2 very fun
months tinkering with recording equipment, electronic keyboards, and computers
with really COOL music hardware built in. | |
