Neelah - Kateel of Kuhlvult

Book appearances

Neelah appears in the Bounty Hunter Series. K.W. Jeter

Affliations

At the beginning of the Mandalorian Armor Trilogy, Neelah's origins are enknown, and shrouded in mystery. It is later discovered that she has ties to the ruling families of the planet Kuat.

Special Distinctions

Neelah was a dancing girl at Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine. At some point before she arrived there, her memories were erased, indicating someone wanted her not to be found, but alive. Knowing she was at the palace under mysterious circumstances and as a result, extremely distrusting, she kept to herself.

Following Jabba's defeat at the hands of Luke Skywalker, Neelah fled into the desert. It was there she found Boba Fett after his escape from the Sarlaac. Her finding Fett in the desert was fortunate. Neelah had seen him at the palace, and sensed that he held information about how she came to be on Tatooine and in Jabba's service.

Knowing she could not help Boba Fett alone, but somehow also knowing he held the keys to her past, Neelah left Boba Fett so that he would be found by the bounty hunter Dengar. Together, Neelah and Dengar nursed Boba Fett back to health. She nursed him only in order to find out who she was and where she came from. Thus far, they are the only people to see Boba Fett without his helmet and Mandalorian armor.

Together, Neelah, Boba Fett, and Dengar raced across the galaxy in order to each further their own agendas. For Neelah it was to regain her identity; for Boba Fett it was to save his life after it was threatened by the one thing that could hurt him (the remnants of the criminal organization, the Black Sun; and for Dengar it was to earn enough money to get out of bounty hunting and start a new life with his betrothed, Manaroo.

In the course of their adventures, Neelah saw the logo of the Kuat Drive Yards, the largest and richest ship building corporation in the galaxy, and supplier to the Empire. Seeing this, Neelah's memories returned, including her name - Kateel of Kuhlvult and membership among one of the ruling families on the planet of Kuat. She discovered that her sister Kodir was responsible for her memory wipe and disappearance. Kodir wanted to get Kateel out of the way because Kateel would not support her attempt to take over the extremely profitable Kuat Drive Yards, but did not want to outright murder her sister. Ultimately, Kodir's scheme was uncovered.
