Oola was a Twi'lek from the planet Ryloth. On her homeworld, she was the daughter of a clan chief, and known an exquisite dancer. Along with a younger Twi'leki woman, Sienn, Oola was abducted from her home and enslaved by Bib Fortuna. Fortuna sought to use the women in Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine, and subjected them to months of training as court dancers. Knowing she could not escape, but would be allowed to dance, Oola was seduced by thoughts of fame and power. However, deep down inside, while she lived for her dancing, she still believed in honor and courage. Upon their arrival on Tatooine, Oola and Sienn were accidently separated from Jabba's henchman, and encountered Luke Skywalker. Skywalker managed to convince Sienn to accompany him and seek freedom with the Alliance, but Oola, being suspicious, could not decide on a course of action before they were discovered by Fortuna. Sensing Skywalker's sincerity, Oola managed to create a diversion, allowing Skywalker to save Sienn.

Oola went on to Jabba's palace, where she was beaten and starved, in addition to having to degrade herself for Jabba's amusement. Days later, upon seeing Skywalker among the shadows at Jabba's palace, Oola decided to dance for him, for a second chance. The dance was perfect. But unfortunately, Jabba agreed and attempted to force Oola toward him. More angry than frightened, she pulled on the chain that bound her to Jabba. In retaliation, Jabba dropped Oola through the trap door to the Rancor's pit and her death.

An Oola action figure is to be released for the first time as a special offering to Star Wars fan club members this year.
