Data, an android, was created around 2336 by Dr. Noonian Soong at the Omicron Theta colony, and was one of the only survivors when the Crystalline Entity attacked and destroyed the colony. Dr. Soong was also able to escape, as was his wife. Data was discovered and reactivated by the crew of the U.S.S. Tripoli in 2338 and subsequently joined Star Fleet. As his decorations attest, Data has served with distinction on a number of occasions. He successful evacuated castaway colonists on Tau Cygna Five to abandon the planet to the Sheliak Corporate. Using a stroke of brilliance while commanding the Sutherland (see: Romulan Interdiction fleet, Duras Rebellion), he turned back the Romulan reinforcement group.
