Unfortunately, my interests have slowly but surely drifted from web site design. I regret to inform past, present, and future visitors that I will no longer be updating LtCarter & Pals. I will be leaving it as you see it now. However, I will continue to actively run the Ultimate Star Trek Webring as people are continuing to apply daily. I would like to thank everyone that has helped make this site possible, including Geocities, The Omnipotent Borg of the Omnipotent Collective, ______________ of the Alpha Quadrant Webring, and countless others. Oh yes, and of course all of you, the visitors. So thank you all once again, farewell, and safe journeys. -Sean Carter
[June 6th 2000]This site has been active for 4, maybe 5 years now, under different names and themes. The most recognizable I think was the Star base 28 Image Archive(actually, I don't remember what I called it, but it's probably along those lines), with literally a thousand or so images. The unfortunate dealings with Fortune City led to the downfall of the once magnificent site. Then it became my first attempt(and in my opinion a fairly successful one) at a full blown Star Trek RPG site known only as StarBase 28-Theta. It then evolved into "LtCarter & Pals", which contained a variety of different sections including, but not limited to: Starbase 28-Theta RPG, the popular Starship Deathmatch, and a tribute to the former image archive, now known as Holodeck 15.
After poking about here and there around the old pages, and discovering all the now broken links and images, I decided it was time to take her off line, and end the long (8 or 9 years?) run. However, when I got to the conformation page asking me if I was sure, I sat staring at the screen for a good 5 minutes, and just couldn't do it. This web site has so much time and effort put into it, over a good 5 years in the late 90s. I took screen snaps of all the pages for my personal archive, sentimental reasons I suppose. I looked into many programs and ways to back up the site completely to my hard drive, but nothing seemed like a viable solution with all the broken links. I eventually decided to simply kill all the links from the main page inward, so this is all you will be able to see from now on. I wanted to leave this site here, kind of as a personal monument for myself, as this was my very first introduction to the computer world, and an invaluable learning experience. I even still have the old Macintosh Performa I started with in my closet. I don't really know how to end this message. This whole experience has really meant a lot to me, and I want to thank those that I met and those that helped me along the way. So... Thanks! -Sean Carter! ! New Notice ! !
[May 31st 2003]Time goes on, links change, web sites close, interests wonder, site duties are neglected. Just a fact of the internet world I suppose. I got an email a day ago from my old webring buddy asking me to take his name off my site because he no longer ran his. I had quite a flash back. I had to really dig around to find my password to get in and edit this site, but I got it.
There is a theory which states that if anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened. |
