Ibran Crissean
- Ibran Somath Crissean has lived the life of a person who is constantly protecting
others. He grew up with his family on the world of Ord Mantell, a treacherous place for
a family if there ever was one. His father Juvo is a black market arms dealer with heavy
Alliance sympathies (but will sell to anyone). His mother Karen is co-proprietor of the
business and she flies shipments out to various places. Once, Ibran and his siblings tagged
along with his mother on a delivery to the Yavin Jedi Academy. There, it was revealed that the three Crissean children were Force sensitive. Ibran instantly became interested in the Force, but he did not stay with the Academy on this particular trip.
- Upon returning to Ord Mantell, Ibran tried doing little things with the Force, like
levitating chairs a small distance. His small success interested his siblings, and the three
Crissean children all decided to explore the Force together. As the oldest of the three, he
naturally assumed the role of protector of the other two. He was the one who tried to avert
fights, but was best at them when the time came. He was smartest, strongest, and the most intelligent.
His sister excelled in healing small cuts and persuasion and was next in the line of intellect, and his
little brother was the curious one, always trying to learn how things worked. Kain's curiosity got him
in hot water more than once, forcing Ibran to come to his rescue while Lucinda rationalized his actions to their parents.
- Despite Kain's aptitude for trouble, it wasn't the thing that cost Ibran his arm. It was, in fact,
lost while Ibran was trying to help a friend. The details of the incident are known only to Ibran's
family and to his best friend Jeff. Lucinda and Kain know more about it than do his parents. It was
this incident that changed Ibran's life. His father was able to afford a replacement arm without
causing too much trouble, and on Ord Mantell the large amount of bounty hunters and "enhanced"
beings was high, but Ibran did not relate to them and he was now no longer like his family.
- Ibran became aloof from the galaxy at large, learning how to get from place to place without
attracting much attention. He prefers to go about at night or in the evening so as not to attract
attention to his arm and hand, which look fairly normal at first glance, but which upon close
inspection seems more claw-like than a normal hand. He became an excellent observer, often figuring
out where trouble might strike and avoiding it before it came to pass.
- As a result of this tragedy, his family became even closer. Lacking any better ideas, Ibran's parents
decided to send their children to the Jedi Academy again, in hopes that Ibran would be able to find a
place there with his siblings. The three of them decided to band together on the Academy at Dantooine
and are often found together even among groups of people. Although Ibran is powerful enough to be a
Jedi Knight and he has accepted the title, he uses it with great reluctance and would rather hide that
facet of his life.
- During the bug-hunt at Fury (which Ibran barely survived), Ibran met a girl named Alia Trynyty, another
Force-sensitive person with a difficult past. When they met, Ibran developed a bond with her (but he'll
lose his other arm before he admits it). They have exchanged past histories and Ibran trusts her a great
deal.
- Among the other people Ibran has met are General Tashannoc and Neb Calluna, both of those meetings
being very brief. For a while, Nemesis Squadron leader Thix Barkon traveled with him in his quest
to find Alia, who had left the Academy somewhat precipitously. Although he has a moderate amount
of trust and respect for Thix, Ibran has no urge to share his past with Thix.
- He is 6'3" and weighs 165 lbs. His hair is black and falls to his shoulders, and
his eyes are deep emerald green. He can generally be found wearing a black or red cloak
over a black, brown, or green shirt with black or green trousers. He sometimes wears
either a ring on his good right hand or a bracelet. Both of these items have a special
meaning for him.
- Although he can be aloof and mysterious at times, he opens up if you try to get
to know him. He believes highly in honor, integrity, and justice. If asked about
his past, he will generally tell the questioner everything they want to know about
one subject, but still tries to evade talking about his arm.
- The best way to learn his entire past is to become friends with him and ask him
about it over several sessions. Despite the fact that he generally walks around
smiling, his major sticking point is his bionic left arm. While it helps him out
of jams sometimes, it is a point of great sadness in his life and he will not
willingly discuss how he got it with another person unless he trusts them like his
brother or sister. He will tell someone he trusts about the mechanics he knows about
his claw. (Although he is not very mechanically inclined)
- If he somehow manages to have a person for a friend, he will go all out for them,
including putting his life on the line if that's what it takes. Clever, sometimes
witty, and always caring, he is there if you need him, whether you know it or not!
- His one true ambition in life is to help others. He has a knack for talking people
through problems, including his own sometimes. Beyond that, he has no true ambitions. His
main reason for learning the Force is to help him in this aspect.
