Raxichbus

Of his 250 years of life, the last four years have been some of the most pleasant. For the past four years, Raz (as he is called by his friends) has worked with Shalindra Garrote; first on a privateer vessel called Doomfang and finally on Dark Maiden, the smuggling freighter owned by Shalindra.

Previous to his stint on Doomfang, Raz was a slave. Abducted by slavers when he was 230 standard years old, he was sold to a crime lord called Thenton Grum based in the Minos Cluster. Grum was not unkind to Raxichbus, though he was firm in reminding the Wookiee who was master and who was slave. After thirteen years of service to Grum, during which time Raz learned many skills required to operate a starship's defenses (among others), the Wookiee prevented an assassination attempt on the crime lord. In gratitude, Grum decided that Raxichbus had earned his freedom.

Raxichbus became a drifter for a while, a brief period of time really, living hand-to-mouth by working odd jobs for passage from one starport to the next. Finally, Raz noticed an advertisement in the personal section of a newsnet datadoc. Applying for a position as a weapons master for a private trade vessel wasn't something Raz considered to be a life-long goal, but such a job would give him steady income.

Wohl Sturmdon decided to take a chance on the Wookiee, signing him on for a trial basis - a tour of three months. At the end of that tour Sturmdon hired Raz on full-time as the chief weapons master of the Doomfang; the privateer vessel had never been so profitable before, and that was largely due to the efficiency with which the Wookiee handled the ships defenses. Doomfang needed very little repair during the three month trial-tour, thereby increasing the profits for the captain and crew.

Two years later, a human woman from Coruscant named Shalindra Garrote was hired on as the ship's navigation/astrogation specialist. The two formed a strong friendship over time, and it was no surprise to anyone when they left together when Shal purchased her freighter, Dark Maiden, two years later.

In the two years since then, they have made quite a name for themselves in the Corporate Sector but taking care to be slightly more low-profile elsewhere in the galaxy; too much attention and they'd be recruited by some crime lord (or gods forbid, the Rebel Alliance).
