Battle Zone Technology: Rebel Capital Ships
CLASS A CAPITAL SHIP SCALE
- Agave-class Picket Ship: These are used for reconnaissance by task force commanders. They have powerful sensors, an electronic countermeasures stealth package, and direct-line hypertransceivers for reporting back with minimal danger of detection. The Agave Picket Ship, built by Republic Engineering Corporation, is 190 meters long and looks like a modern airplane with no tail fin. It requires a crew of 36 (includes 8 gunners), but with a Command skill of 45 can operate with a skeleton crew of 10. It carries 5 passengers, and has supplies for 3 months. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 30, and can travel at 1,050 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 2 forward arc turbolaser cannons (damage is 250 each). The hull and shield strength ratings are 150 and 50, respectively. Cost is 185 points. A character must be a military officer of the Rebel Alliance to purchase one of these ships.
- Corellian Corvette: A very popular ship in use widely throughout the galaxy by pirates, private corporations, and of course, the Rebel Alliance. They are very versatile, and used in many ways, from blockade running to heavy combat. They are 150 meters long, and require a crew from 30 to 165, depending on the configuration for duty. Passenger capacity is up to 600, again depending on the configuration. They fly at 950 km/h in most planetary atmospheres,
have a maneuverability rating of 40/50, and have a hyperdrive rating of 2. They have six double turbolaser cannons (all fired separately) with damage ratings of 235. The Corellian Corvette has a hull strength rating of 200 and a shield strength rating of 100. Cost is 215.
- Modified Gallofree Yards Medium Transport: The 90 meter long Medium Transport built by Gallofree Yards and modified by the Rebels was used to evacuate the Rebel base on Hoth. It looks like a beetle carapace and is, in fact, mostly just shell. It has a cramped command pod located in the rear on top which would be a sitting duck target except that's where the deflector shield generator is located. Modular cargo containers and sealed passenger pods can be quickly fastened onto the open space beneath the hull. When the ship is full, a magnetic shield locks the cargo modules in place and keeps the vacuum out. This ship requires a crew of 7 to operate (includes 1 gunner), but can operate on a skeleton crew of 3 with a command skill of 45. It has good sensors to detect incoming vessels and advanced countermeasures systems to hide from scans. Prudent captains will use those advantages to avoid combat. Standard armament (supplied with your purchase) is 4 twin laser cannons (damage is 150 when fire-linked, 100 when fired separately), but these ships often had their weapons stripped for installation on combat starships. Gallofree transports are prone to breakdown and tend to spend as much time in repair bays as in space. This Medium Transport has a 19,000 metric ton cargo capacity which can be used to carry up to 153 troops or cargo. It has a hyperdrive rating of
3, a maneuverability rating of 65/80, and can travel at 650 km/h in atmosphere. The hull and shield strength ratings are 100 and 50, respectively; however, the hull rating applies to the carapace, not the cargo containers and pods attached beneath it. Cost is 100 points.
- Corellian Gunship: Very similar in design to the Corvette, this anti-starfighter ship has played quite a successful role in the Alliance Navy. Unlike its cousin (the Corvette), this ship only has one profile for its design; it is geared entirely for combat. There is little room for storage, passengers, or even troops aboard this 120 meter long ship. The gunship's engines take up almost half of the ship's area; most of what's left is for weaponry and shielding. A crew of 45 is required to operate this ship. The gunship has a hyperdrive rating of
2, a maneuverability rating of 40/50, and can fly at 1000 km/h in most planetary atmospheres. It has 8 double turbolaser cannons (damage is 225 each), 6 quad laser cannons (damage is 250 each), and 4 concussion missile tubes (damage is 450 each). The hull strength rating is 225 and the shield strength rating is 125. Cost is 230.
- Hajen-class Fleet Tender: Alliance New-class ships will run out of supplies, munitions and parts after 5 months unless re-supplied. Since those ships are generally protecting Alliance territory, re-supply and repair is as easy as docking at the closest
ORD. The Hajen-class re-supply vessel is the workhorse that permits the Alliance to project military power in extended campaigns beyond its borders or keep ships on station more than 5 months. It is manufactured by Republic Engineering Corporation. It is basically a 375 meter long box shape with a protruded command deck on the front right. It requires a crew of 6 and extensive droid complement to operate, but with a Command skill of 40 can operate with a skeleton crew of 2 plus the droids. It can carry 6 passengers in the crew compartment, and has a cargo capacity of 300,000 metric tons. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 60/75, and can travel at 1,000 km/h in atmosphere. It is unarmed
(Ugh! That's why it belongs in the Class A section). The hull and shield strength ratings are 250 and 150, respectively. Cost is 150 points.
- Junker: "Junkers" are Gallofree Yards medium transports specially equipped and upgraded to scout and scavenge old space battle sites. Remote droid operator and intelligence analyst teams direct the operations. SM model scavenger droids do most of the physical retrieval and examination of recovered artifacts (e.g., live ammunition) is performed by remote operators assisted by DA model data analysis droids. This 90 meter long ship requires a crew of 6 and typically includes as passengers 20 specialists and 48 droids. The cargo capacity is 15,000 metric tons. It has a hyperdrive rating of
3, a maneuverability rating of 50/75, and can travel at 800 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 4 turret mounted laser cannons (damage is
240 each). The hull and shield strength ratings are 150 and 50, respectively. Cost is 100 points.
- Rebel CC-7700 Frigate: This older frigate has a single large gravity well projector able to prevent hyperspace travel. It has the same range as the four smaller gravity well projectors employed by the Imperial Interdictor Cruiser. It is 120 meters long, and looks like a slice of cake on its side with a pair of stubby square wings. It requires a crew of 510 to operate (includes gunners), but with a Command skill of 45 can operate with a skeleton crew of 120. It carries 50 troops. It has a hyperdrive rating of
2, a maneuverability rating of 50, and is not atmosphere capable. The weapons complement consists of 10 heavy turbolasers (damage is 235 each) and 20 laser cannons (damage is 120 each). The hull and shield strength ratings are 220 and 120, respectively. Cost is 250 points. A character must be a military officer of the Rebel Alliance to purchase one of these ships.
- Sprint-class Rescue Craft (Med Runner): The SoroSuub Sprint-class medical rescue craft is a fast-response vessel for deep space mishaps, complete with a military grade sensor suite that allows fast response and bio-sensors to search for lost pilots or live crew trapped in starship wreckage. The inside is divided into medical bays served by 5 medics with capacity for 40 patients. Emergency trauma suites can stabilize the critically injured or those suffering from vacuum exposure, and keep them alive for delivery to more sophisticated medical facilities with bacta tanks. It looks like a Gamma-class shuttle. It is 30 meters long, but extremely noisy as sound baffles and inertial dampeners were removed to free up space. It requires a crew of
4, but with a command skill of 50 can operate with a skeleton crew of 2. It has a hyperspace rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 30/40, and can travel at 1,150 km/h in atmosphere. The hull and shield strength ratings are 160 and 100, respectively. Cost is110 points.
- Warrior-class Gunship: This ship is dedicated to ship-to-ship combat, and has enough firepower to threaten even heavy capital ships. The 190 meter long Warrior-class Gunship looks like a horseshoe, with the two prongs on the
front. It requires a crew of 80 (includes 36 gunners), but with a Command skill of 60 can operate with a skeleton crew of 22. It carries 10 passengers, and has supplies for 3 months. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 45, and can travel at 1,050 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 10 turbolaser cannons (damage is 300 each), 8 laser cannon (damage is 250 each) and 4 concussion missile tubes (damage is 450 each). The hull and shield strength ratings are 250 and 150, respectively. Cost is 265 points. A character must be a military officer of the Rebel Alliance to purchase one of these ships.
