Teyan Tannis
- Teyan Tannis trained Jedi privately in her own praxeum for many years
after the Clone Wars, but once Palpatine began his purges she shut the doors
of her academy. Taking her students with her in a medium bulk cruiser,
she cruised the galaxy looking for more students, but found the Imperial
agents had been too efficient in most cases. In a period of ten years
she only found two candidates to train.
- As matters in the galaxy grew worse, Tannis took her students and her ship
to a planet that has remained unnamed. There she reestablished her
praxeum, though this one would not be public knowledge.
- Mistress Tannis, as she prefers to be known
by Jedi students, Knights, and Masters alike, shares with the other members
of her species not only the exotic Omwati physical traits of blue skin,
feathery iridescent hair and huge indigo eyes, but also their intellectual
traits of boundless curiosity and intense mental concentration.
Tannis has channeled these energies into the study of the Force. She
is a Master of both the practices and the traditions of the Jedi; anyone
looking into her deep blue eyes will see reflected in them the wisdom of
hundreds of years of Jedi lore.
- Tannis firmly believes that all
Force-sensitive individuals have an obligation to themselves and to the
galaxy to be trained in the ways of the Jedi.
Even if a person has other career plans or commitments in mind, Tannis feels
Jedi training can only be an asset to him or her; just as the Force flows
through all life, so must the Jedi take places through all walks of life,
becoming wise citizens and concerned leaders of their communities.
Tannis also believes that all persons with the ability to use the Force must
gain the moral understanding of the weight of the powers they possess, lest,
in ignorance, they be seduced by the Dark Side.
