Now, I've never been here, but I've done quite a bit of research on Disneyland for a project in school. Most of what I know revolves around the inspiration for Disneyland and its creation by Disney and the Imagineers.
When Walt Disney visited amusement parks around the country, he found that there were several things lacking in the design concept of these places. One, it was very easy to get lost and tired. In Disneyland, he created the Hub, a central location with the Sleeping Beauty castle acting as a focus. Each land branched off from there making it very difficult to lose your way in the different lands. As Disney put it, "no one will get lost or tired unless they want to."
Another interesting fact about Disneyland is the fact that its design was pretty much in-house. An architect was asked to come in and view the studios before starting work on the project. The architect allegedly told Disney not to get an architect, he had all the talent necessary sitting inside the studio.
From all this came some of the best family attractions in the United States. Most people recognize the castles that serve as the centering element of both amusement parks. It is this place that allows the familiar and loved characters of Disney movies to come to life.
