Arhainii Spellcasting

Arhainii spellcasters use a magic that was discovered and refined by the Coven. It blends some of the raw power of dark magic with the powers of nature and also uses the Shadow Paths:

SPELL DESCRIPTIONS

Spirit Path - power 1

Tapping into the network of Shadow Paths, your Shadow Mage walks the Spirit Path allowing him to teleport to any point on the battlefield. He may teleport into hand to hand combat in which case he counts as charging in the first round of fighting.

Wrath of Khaine - power 1 - Range 3"

The Shadow Mage cries to Khaela Mensha Khaine, asking him to strike down his enemies with his wrath. Dark powers swirl around the Mage and tendrils of black power reach out to destroy those close by. All enemy models within 3" of the Shadow Mage take 1S4 hit with no armour save allowed (except magical armour).

Thornshield - power 1 - Remains in Play

Chanting and singing, the Shadow Mage summons a magical shield of thorns to protect him. It twists and grows making the Mage virtually impossible to hit. While protected by the Thornshield the Mage's opponents in hand to hand combat require a 6 to hit him. Shooting at a Mage with the Thornshield is at an extra -1 to hit.

Phantoms - power 1 - Range 36"

The Shadow Mage uses his power to create phantom creatures out of the air. They look extremely ferocious but are no more solid than the air from which they were formed. The Phantoms can be used to charge a fleeing unit. This causes them to flee again in a direction chosen by the Shadow Mage.

Spirit of Khaine - power 2 - Range 24" - Remains in Play

The Mage calls on the power of Khaine to imbue his warriors with his own strength. The target unit gains double attacks and becomes immune to panic, fear and terror. At the start of the Arhainii turn in which the unit is not in combat the unit must take a leadership test or be forced to move as fast as possible towards the nearest enemy unit.

Shadow Path - power 2

By using the Shadow Paths, the Mage teleports an entire unit of troops across the battlefield surprising the enemy. The mage may teleport any friendly unit up to 18" in any direction. They may teleport into hand to hand combat in which case they count as charging in the first round of fighting.

Spear of Darkness - power 2 - Range 18" - Line of Sight

Dark energy coalesces in the hand of the Shadow Mage. It grows into a spear of shining darkness before the Mage hurls it at his enemies. It strikes the first model in its path up to 18" away causing D6 S5 hits unless the target is a war machine, chariot or building in which case it causes D6 S10 hits. In Siege games, this spell functions in the same way as Doombolt.

Striking of Khaine - power 2 - Range 36"

The Shadow Mage chants to Khaine asking him to strike down the accursed machines of war used by cowards. Khaine answers with awesome power. Every war machine within range of this spell takes D6 S7 hits on the structure itself. Alternatively, the power may be directed at a single machine in range in which case it takes D6 S10 hits.

Dark Spirits - power 3 - Range 24" - Remains in Play

The Shadow Mage summons evil spirits from another plane to do his bidding. They appear around an enemy unit within 24" and harass them. Their Movement and Weapon Skill are both halved (round fractions down). At the start of each of their turns the unit must take a panic test. Mounted models are thrown from their steeds and take D6 S4 hits also at the start of their turn.

Devour Souls - power 3 - Range 24" - Line of Sight

The Shadow Mage uses his dark powers to devour the souls of the enemy using their strength to heal himself. The target takes 2D6 hits at their own strength value with no armour save allowed. For every 2 wounds caused, the Mage may heal 1 wound he has lost earlier in the battle.
