The Hobbits may all be taken together as a Hero choice. They must be fielded
exactly as presented here and no extra equipment or magic items can be bought for him.
Points: Frodo Baggins costs 60 points. Sam Gamgee costs
50 points. Merry costs 40 points. Pippin costs 40 points.
Weapons: All of the hobbits are equipped with blades given to
them by Aragorn (count as hand weapons). If Bilbo Baggins is not included in the
force then Frodo Baggins may have Sting for +10 points.
Armour: All of the hobbits wear an Elven cloak. Frodo
Baggins may wear a Mithril Coat if Bilbo Baggins is not included in the force, at an
additional cost of +20 points.
Special Rules:
Magic Resistance 1. All hobbits have Magic Resistance 1.
See the Warhammer rulebook for full rules.
The Ring. If Bilbo Baggins is not included in the force,
then Frodo Baggins is equipped with the Ring. This increases Frodo's cost by 10
points. Frodo may place the Ring on his finger at any time. At that point he
becomes invisible to all models except Ringwraiths. He cannot be attacked except by
Ringwraiths, and may effectively move "through" other models, but may not end
his turn in the middle of an enemy unit. Other models may move "through"
Frodo - he simply dodges out of the way. Frodo may not fight while he is invisible,
unless he is attacked by a Ringwraith.
Roll a dice on each turn the Ring is worn. If a 1 or 2 is rolled, the Evil
player can control Frodo that turn. On a 3+ Frodo manages to keep the Ring in check
and the Good player controls him. You must take a Ld test if you want Frodo to
remove the Ring from his finger.
If Frodo is the only model left on the Good side and he is wearing the Ring then
he counts as a casualty. He has lost the battle of wills with the Ring and has
become a pawn of Evil. If you are playing a scenario in which Frodo must survive or
at least one Good model must survive and Frodo is the only model left but is still wearing
the Ring, you will automatically lose the scenario.

MAGIC ITEMS
Sting
Bilbo gave
'Sting', a long bladed knife (which acts as a short sword in the hands of a hobbit), to
Frodo before Frodo left Rivendell with the Fellowship. Sting is a magical blade that
shines with a blue light when Orcs are near.
Sting gives Frodo +1 Strength while he is carrying it,
raising his Strength to 3. It also counts as having a -1 saving throw modifier
against its opponents.
Mithril Coat
At Rivendell Bilbo
gave Frodo the Mithril coat given to him years before by Thorin the Dwarf. This was
to save Frodo's life in the mines of Moria where he was speared by a monstrous cave troll.
Mithril is a special metal that is very strong as well as extremely light. It
is so valuable that Bilbo's coat was said to be greater than the worth of the entire
Shire.
The Mithril coat gives Frodo a 3+ saving throw, but
does not impair his movement.
Elven Cloak
Before the Fellowship left the sanctuary of
Lothlorien, the lady Galadriel gave each hero a cloak woven in the elvish fashion and
designed to conceal its wearer from sight.
If the wearer of an Elven cloak is in cover, he
cannoy be seen at all by opponents that are more than 6" away. They cannot
attack the model in any manner. |

directed at his other opponents, one per opponent.
|
MAGIC ITEMS
Anduril
"The Sword of Elendil was forged anew by elvish smiths, and on its
blade was traced a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the rayed Sun,
and about them were written many runes; for Aragorn son of Arathorn was going to war upon
the marches of Mordor. Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the
light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was
hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Anduril, Flame of the
West."
Anduril gives Aragon a +3 bonus to his Strength,
and does D3 wounds instead of 1 with each successful hit. Against creatures of
Sauron (Ringwraiths, the Balrog, etc.), it wounds automatically and does D3 wounds with
each successful hit.
