Nippon Special Characters

Without knowledge of Learning, one will ultimately have no military victories.

One should not be envious of someone who has prospered by unjust deeds. Nor should he disdain someone who has fallen while adhering to the path of righteousness.

Miyamoto Musashi (The Sword Saint (Kensei))...........................................210 points

Kensei Musashi has fought and won over sixty katana duels, killing all of his opponents, and he has written the story of his life in his great philosophical work, Go Rin No Sho. He is the greatest swordsman of all of Nippon, and he will never use any other weapon, as he disdains all forms of fighting other than Kenjutsu, The Way of the Sword.

Weapons: Musashi carries a Daisho. He never uses any other weapons.

Armour: Musashi never wears any armour, but has a 4+ save(unmodified) against any attack. This special save represents a dodge, and even works against spells with Physical effects (Fireballs, Squish etc.)

Magic: Musashi never carries any magic items. He is always testing himself against things of the world. But his weapons are counted as magic for affecting saves. His hits will modify armour saves that say they are unaffected by all weapons except magical weapons. He has the ability to find the weakness even in the best of magical protection.

Ride: Musashi may ride a warhorse(+3 points), he may never ride a monster.

Special: Musashi will never join or lead any regiment. He always fights as a single model. Musashi is immune to all Psychology, he will never break. If he is ever called upon to take a Ld test he will pass it automatically, so no dice roll is made.

Strategy is the craft of the warrior. Commanders must enact the craft, and troopers should know this Way. There is no warrior in the world today who really understands the Way of strategy.... It is said the warrior's is the twofold Way of pen and sword, and he should have a taste for both Ways.

Students of the Ichi school Way of strategy should train from the start with the sword and long sword in either hand. This is a truth: when you sacrifice your life, you must make fullest use of your weaponry. It is false not to do so, and to die with a weapon yet undrawn.

In strategy your spiritual bearing must not be any different from normal. Both in fighting and in everday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased.

If the enemy thinks of the mountains, attack like the sea; and if he thinks of the sea, attack like the mountains.

If we watch men of other schools discussing theory, and concentrating on techniques with the hands, even though they seem skillfull to watch, they have not the slightest true spirit.

Tomoe Gozen...........................................................155 points + 45 points magic items

Tomoe Gozen was born in 2478, the only child of a rural Daimyo of a small, secluded province. As he had no other child, he taught Tomoe Gozen the arts and skills of the Samurai. She grew into womanhood practicing daily with the Daisho and Daikyu, but her main love was Kenjutsu, the Way of the Sword. Upon her father's death, her uncle took her holdings and tried to marry her off to one of his retainers. Tomoe Gozen immediately killed the retainer and six other Samurai, and set out on the road to a life of adventure. Along the way, she met a wise old Tengu who taught her many secrets of Kenjutsu, and she became one of the most proficient Kensei in all of Nippon. When she met Yoshitsune, they fought a duel until they both dropped from exhaustion, neither able to overcome the other. Tomoe Gozen had met her mate, the only man that she would consider good enough for her. They have fought side by side ever since. Tomoe Gozen disdains all armour.
