October can be a scary month in Southern California's High Desert in more ways than one. The weather can be highly unpredictable, and we planned an evening outdoor event! We shouldn't have worried... like
everything else on this magical day, the weather was perfect.
Guests began arriving early, especially those like Marianne, the Mother of the Bride, who was under strict doctor's orders after having a disk
removed barely a month prior to our wedding day. She drove up from the San Fernando Valley early so she could rest up as ordered.
Also early on the scene were the Groom's Sister Mary and Best Man and Brother-in-Law Ed, who flew out from North Carolina to be here for Bill. They had an exciting time of it - their flight was delayed three hours on the way out, and although we didn't know it at the time of the wedding, they were going to have rental car trouble and a TEN hour delay on the flight home! (We hope they will still come visit us again sometime!)
NOT early on the scene were the hairdresser, cake, minister, and DJ.
(If anyone would like the brand of the Bride's anti-perspirant she will happily give it to you, along with a hearty endorsement as to its effectiveness.) Some 45 minutes later, everyone was present and accounted for except the hairdresser, who we found out later had come down with the flu that morning, laid down to take a nap, and woke up after everything was over! We assured her we didn't miss her germs one bit.
At any rate, believe it or not, everyone was ready to start ON TIME.
We think this is a personal first for the Bride.
The Ceremony and Vows are available HERE.
When it was all over, our main objectives were all met:
1. Good weather.
2. No "America's Funniest Home Videos" moments.
3. No police activity either at the event or on anyone's way home.
4. A great start for our "Happy Ever After".......
