Kazumi

Kazumi

Senior Apprentice - Stormcrest Wingleader - Ista Weyr

Windtossed hair of raven-wings, shiny sleek over her shoulders, they arch over the twinkle in her doe-like brown eyes. A large woman in presence if not really in size, she's sturdily built. A pneumatic form more suited to a peasant's wife than a sylvan nymph, but possessing great strength and endurance. Her hands are calloused from gripping riding straps and her muscular figure is layered lightly with a hint of perpetual baby fat, not to mention the few pounds she has yet to loose since giving birth to Sunami. But the smile on her face is genuine, even a bit flirty, and when she's looking down sternly at her wing or weyrlings, there's still a hint laughter in her eyes.

A blouse the blue of dark stormy nights with an invitingly low neckline and billowy sleeves is worn with flirtous grace. Currently it's open entirely, the front tails tied at her narrow waist in a loose knot. Beneath she's wearing a cream sisal bikini top, concrasting her lightly tanned skin (Hmm, no tan lines either.) Black, no a dark, deep purple set of wherhide leathers hugs against her legs, almost second skin over the curve of hip and thigh. She wears true black, flap-topped boots that reach up to midcalf on her feet, with high heels and a bright shine over the toes.

An Istan Dragonrider's knot is worn on her shoulder.

She was storm-borne, a child wailing into the shrieking winds outside of Alumi and K'suke's weyr on a dark night of tropical rain. The drenched healer who was brought in pronounced her hail and healthy and so Ista's Weyrleader dubbed his daughter Kazumi.

She was a terrible child from the start, Alumi's temper was ever short with the rather energetic and rather petulant sprite. But she was a quick learner, eventually blending into the groups of the many weyrbrats at Ista along with her younger twin sisters that came after her, Kanami and Kurumi. She even took on apprenticeship with the weavers at the weyr, with a fine hand for embroidery and a knack for working the leathers that the dragonriders so favored. Then came the fateful day. She turned 13 and /nothing/ was safe from her fluctuating emtions ever since! But the worse was yet to come. It came time for yet another Hatching, and though she was of age, K'suke who was then just another aging bronze rider refused to let her stand, believing that his rebellious little child still needed a few turns to grow.

Perhaps he was right, but we'll never know, for upon Hatching day Kazumi stole into the Hatching Grounds behind the Candidates and watched, ever hopeful at the entrance to the Sands. Oh, K'suke was livid and as he stormed down to drag her out of there, someone else beat him to it. Amanoth. A sun-lit brown and cream vision of protective dragonet wrapping himself around Kazumi and their fate was sealed.

All was well for many turns. Well, as well as could be expected from such an auspicious pair. Then came THE STORM. The storm that wreaked all of Ista Island, drowning hundreds in the tsunami's that followed. It left Kazumi and her sisters orphaned, even the new eggs upon the Sands were lost. In the reconstruction that followed, young faces had to take the place of their elders, and Kazumi assumed command of the Stormcrest Wing at the tender age of 16.

Life went on, including a rather raunchy affair with one of the transfered riders from Southern Weyr, Y'sil of blue Trelith, that resulted in a little daughter named Sunami.
