103. The Assignment

Summary

Keiko has been visiting the Bajoran Fire Caverns. When she returns, she tells her husband that she is not Keiko but an entity who has taken over her body and will kill it unless O'Brien performs some tasks without alerting anyone. O'Brien unhappily agrees, and sets about his tasks, aided by Rom, who doesn't know what is happening. Rom tells O'Brien about pagh wraiths, beings banished from the Celestial Temple and imprisoned in the Fire Caverns. O'Brien realizes that the being inside Keiko is a pagh wraith who wants to kill the wormhole aliens by getting the station to emit a chroniton beam into the wormhole. O'Brien takes Keiko in a runabout to the wormhole's mouth as the beam erupts, with the runabout in the way. The beam is absorbed by the pagh wraith, freeing Keiko.
