40. The Maquis, Part I

Summary

A Cardassian freighter, the Bok'Nor, explodes seconds after undocking from the station. Sisko's old friend, Lt. Commander Calvin Hudson, visits with word that Starfleet is worried this may jeopardize a treaty which ceded planets in the Demilitarized Zone to Cardassia. Gul Dukat takes Sisko to the Volan colonies there, to prove to him that Federation citizens were behind the sabotage. Meanwhile, Quark is approached by a Vulcan, Sakonna, wanting to purchase weapons. Later, on the station, Dukat is kidnapped, and a group calling itself the Maquis claims responsibility. They are comprised of Federation colonists from the DMZ who feel the Federation has abandoned them to Cardassian rule. Sisko finds that Hudson is one of its leaders.
