50. Equilibrium

Summary

During a party in Sisko's quarters, Dax, who has never had a host with musical ability, suddenly begins playing a piece of music. It seems to trigger angry and erratic behavior in her, as well as hallucinations. Sisko and Bashir take her in the Defiant to her homeworld to seek treatment. There, a Guardian, Timor, tells them that the hallucinations are memories, but won't say anything more. With Dax on the verge of death, Sisko and Bashir learn that the memories are from a previously unknown past host, Joran, who was mistakenly joined to the Dax symbiont and who murdered a doctor. The memories were blocked by the Symbiosis Commission, but now they are allowed to be integrated, and Dax is cured.
