64. Distant Voices

Summary

Bashir refuses to sell biomemetic gel, a controlled substance, to a Lethean named Altovar, whom he later catches trying to steal it. Altovar attacks him telepathically. Bashir wakes up to find a station under siege by Altovar, and his fellow officers behaving oddly. Also, he himself is aging rapidly. He realizes that he is actually trapped inside his own mind, with his real body in a coma, and the other officers represent aspects of his own personality. To survive, he must defeat Altovar, who is masquerading in his mind as Garak. Bashir finally traps the Lethean and sterilizes him. Recovered in real life, he learns that Altovar is in custody.
