78. Rejoined

Summary

A team of Trill scientists arrives for field experiments with creating an artificial wormhole. One of them is Lenara Kahn, a joined Trill who, in a previous host, was the wife of Dax's fifth host, Torias. There is a danger in that Trill society forbids reassociation with loved ones of a past host; any who break the taboo are forbidden to return to Trill, meaning their symbiont cannot pass on to any more new hosts. Dax and Lenara, however, find their love for each other resurfacing from the past. After a disastrous attempt at creating a wormhole nearly kills Lenara, Dax is ready to be with her regardless of taboos; but Lenara in the end isn't willing to face exile, and leaves.
