Summary

A. A Bajoran lightship comes out of the wormhole with a single crewman, Akorem Laan, a famous Bajoran poet from 200 years ago. Akorem has spent all that time with the Prophets, and believes that he is the Emissary. Sisko, who has always been uncomfortable with that status, readily gives up the title to him. Akorem urges his fellow Bajorans to return to their d'jarras, the caste system they gave up during the Occupation; and they try, but their society has changed too much. When a murder is committed because of it, Sisko takes Akorem into the wormhole, where the inhabitants seem to indicate that they brought Akorem ahead in time to challenge Sisko and thus get him to accept his role. Akorem is sent back to his own time.

B. Keiko returns for good, pregnant with her and Miles' second child, a boy. O'Brien feels obliged to hang around her until Keiko successfully schemes to get him to carry on with Bashir as usual.
