Title: Pass This Way Again Author: Jamie Taylor e-mail: Aiua@juno.com category: MSR (someday, I will write something without it, promise) rating: PG summary: It is the future. Scully's two teenage kids, Aidan and Mary, team up to find out about the Truth of an old haunted house in their small New England town. author's note: Hi. This is my third attempt at fanfic. The first two times, I was stupid enough not to have a proofreader/editor of sorts. Now, in my infinite wisdom (yes, I'm full of it), I have one. Leanne, this one's for you. Now, if it sucks, you have permission to kill me. No, wait...maybe not...Also, I have used some of my Georgian friends names,as I have moved 1,000 miles away to a rural N.E. town... DISCLAIMER: I have this overwhelming sense of deja vu as I write this. Okay, here goes, F.M, D.S, and others in The X-Files belong to CC , 1013 and the FOX network. There. Don't sue me. Please. Addendum to note: Have any of you ever come across a fanfic where "Mulder" is spelled "Mudler" and you crack up? Just one of those things. Also, a slip where someone'll say, Sculder and Mully? Now for the good part.... Pass This Way Again April 2, 2014 Wolfeborough High School Wolfeborough, New Hampshire 3:00 PM He felt someone hovering over him. Even before he looked up, he knew that he was dead meat. All though, this time, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He sighed and looked up. She stood with a smuggishly pleased look on her face. The Beast herself, Mrs. Clender, had caught him. Doing what? Finishing an assignment early. The Beast spoke,"What are you doing? Are you finished?" She didn't let him answer,"See me after class." Aidan couldn't help it and he sighed again. Big mistake. She was outraged,"Get out of this classroom! Go! I want you out! Out!" He nodded, gathered up his belongings and left. Another day in English. As he stood against the wall, counting the dots in the ceiling, he was interrupted at 14, 679 by a wad of paper nailing him in the chest. His sister, Mary, stood there grinning. He glared at her. She ignored him,as their mother often did when his decidedly Irish temper flared. His mood changed and he grinned in return,"Mary Margaret. You've got a nun's name, you know. It's a sign." She whacked him on the arm,"Shut up. And don't call me that." She gave him the 'If-You-Mess-With-Me-I'll-Tear-Off-Your-Arm-and-Beat-You-With-It-Look'. Wisely, he shut up. She spoke again,"So, what'd you do?" He shrugged,"Classwork. She hates me." Mary nodded knowingly,"Uh-huh. Mom's gonna be pissed." He grimaced,"I forgot about that. I won't be home until six, I've got baseball practice." "I'll tell her. Be home as soon as you can, 'cause she said something about having someone over for dinner." He groaned,"Great, another guy. Jeez," he sighed again,"I'll be home," he pawed through his bookbag and came up with a book. He handed it to Mary. She gave his a confused look and read the title aloud,"A History of Tuftonborough, New Hampshire," she smiled," Ah-hah. The old house on Route 109 in Melvin Village." He smiled in return,"Yup. John's house. Remember when we spent the night and stayed up after twelve? Betcha something weird happened in that place a long time ago. I want to know what. I want to know who I saw." "Mom'll say you're crazy. Heck, I say you're crazy. I suppose you'll want my help," this wasn't a question. Aidan gave her the whipped puppy look. She rolled her eyes. Of all the women their family knew, only two were immune to Aidan's looks. Mary and their mother. He continued to look at her. Heaving a martyr's sigh, Mary consented," Okay, I'll help. But you owe me." The bell rang as his eyes lit up," Great! I gotta go, see you later." He disappeared into the masses of students heading towards the doors. * * * * * * April 2, 2014 Huggins Hospital Medical Arts Center Wolfeborough, New Hampshire 5:12 PM She was on the last appointment of the day. Only the bloodwork needed to be finished and she could go home. She waited in Exam Four with the mother and the patient. "Doctor Scully?" Dana Katherine Scully, M.D., looked up at Mrs. Smith,"Yes?" She noticed the young mother had been looking at the pictures on her desk. "Are these your children?" Scully's hunch was confirmed,"Yes, Aidan and Mary." "How old are they?" "Seventeen." Mrs. Smith smiled,"Twins. You're daughter looks just like you. Your son must look like his father." Scully smiled, more to herself than to her patient's mother,"Yes, he does." She silently thanked God that Mark Peterson wasn't her children's father. One day, she would tell them of their natural father. After she told him. Maybe tonight. A nurse interrupted her reverie,"Doctor, the tests are finished." Scully nodded and stood,"Excuse me. I'll be right back." Jack Smith was perfectly healthy. Scully grabbed up her purse and headed out the door. Driving home, she realized how nervous she was. Same Day The Scully Residence 515 RR# 109 Wolfeborough, New Hampshire 5:46 P.M. Scully found her daughter reading a large book in her room. Mary looked up as soon as she heard Scully step through the doorway. "I didn't do it, Mom." Scully smiled,"Guilty conscience, huh? Where's your brother? Did you tell him we're having a guest for dinner?" "Baseball practice. He'll be home soon. Yes, I did tell him and, no, he wasn't thrilled about it," Mary had anticipated her mother's next question. "I'm not surprised. He doesn't like any guys around me, Mary. And you, too, for that matter. Didn't he run off the Brennan kid?" Mary grinned at the actions her brother had taken against the boy who crossed his sister,"Yeah, he did. So, who's coming over for dinner? Do we know him?" "His name is Fox Mulder, I used to work with him years ago." This immediatly piqued her daughter's curiosity, " So, he's another doctor." "No, he's not. I'm also not inclined to tell you what he does for a living. You can ask him yourself." " Wonderful. I always love overcoming my shyness," she jumped as the door opened and the dog barked loudly. Aidan was home. He popped his head in the door. Scully immediatly affixed the Look on him. "The school called." Aidan had the good sense to look at least slightly embarrassed. He ducked his head a little as he spoke,"Yeah, sorry, Mom. " Scully sighed,"Please try and deal with her. You can't switch to another class, Aidan," she paused,"Hurry and change. Mulder will be here any minute." Aidan was incredulous, "Mulder? You call a guy Mulder?" "Yes, he hates his first name.
