Chapter One.

The year ... somewhere after 2286.

James Tiberius was appointed as teacher at the Starfleet Academy, with a good amount of payment. He was teaching the Officers-to-be, an occupation that maintains his mind and body fit for action. Officers Spock, Newark, Sulu and Chekov were appointed Captains of Sterfleets ships class Nova. The original crew members of the Enterprise Refitted were split between those ships, plus some new ones. Scotty obtained his jubilation, and he get associated with a Sport Vessels Industry, where he was in charge of the engines production area. Uhura went to Africa, where he married a former Witch Doctor. Thayn Marden returns to the Vramen Kingdom, together with Frances Raken . Simpertigue and Lagrange became taxi drivers, and installed themselves in the little cottage owned by Kirk. - You always miss the space fields."- Simpertigue told that afternoon to Kirk, about one year after his new appointment at the Academy. - Bird who born to sing, die singing."- He replied, head plunged in a stack of books. He was preparing his morning lesson, for the next Monday. - And why do you keep on teaching at the Academy ? The first year ends, and you are about to begun your second year as a teacher there. And I guess I remember you said one year would be enough, that you will ask for a place in a starship..."- He remembered him. - Yes, I did that request and what did I get ?"- Kirk asked, looking at his cousin. - No idea." - They said I was too old for that ! "- Kirk announced. - I cannot believe it !"- Lagrange said, seating at a chair, inside the same office. - Not with that words, of course... But they told me to stick to the Academy . No ship assignment for me."' - Kirk said, leafing some book. - You are five years my senior, and I have 53 years old. Twenty in the space."- Simpertigue said. - Same here."- Lagrange said, leaving the empty glass at a shelf. - Fifty eight years, and I am an old teacher already."- Kirk murmured. - Well, at least they pay you good money. I already spent my Starfleet final check, in a car. So now I must to work as a taxi driver, to earn a living."- Simpertigue said. - Same here."- Smiled Lagrange. - Well, now that you finish your asseverating, gentlemen, why don't you go fishing , and leave the old Pedagogue here, to prepare the next lesson ?"- Kirk asked. - O.K., Captain. Good bye."- Simpertigue grinned, leaving the room with his friend. A little while more, and Kirk listened the front door shut, as they were going to work in their cabs. - Nuts !"- he said, and he almost smiled. Those two choosed to retired themselves, instead of to keep on working in the Starfleet, in some of the vessels who were ruled by his former Officers...But they preferred to keep at his side... Good boys... Some three hours elapsed, the work was donned, and he went to take a shower and a cup of coffee. Seated in front of the Television set, he heard the last news... War in the fringes, plague in the North East, and the usual announcement of rapes, killings, burglaries, chantage, air crashing, the last fashion in Paris...another change of Cabinet... He listened about the war in the Fringes. The Klingons were there too, but as allies. - What a world ! The Klingons are now our allies ! Incredible !"- He sighed, going to the bath room with the cup of coffee emptied. He washes it, and went to the garage, where he takes the car and went downtown. - Hi !"- He said, after the raid. He was in front of a beautiful blonde, who smiled at him. - Hi! Want to came in ?"- She said, not kissing him. - Bad omen."- He thinks, walking into the department, situated in the 389 floor of a tower of 909 story building. - You look more precious each time I saw you."- He told her. - And you a little more flatterer."- She smiled, offering him a seat at a long sofa. - No ! Really, you are gorgeous to- day !"- He repeated. She pours a little Bourbon in two glasses, offering him one of them, and sipping at the other. She seats at his side, showing a good portion of her long legs . She was Ravina, from Laertes IV, a daughter of German settlers who grew tired of an agrarian life and came back to civilization... - Tell me , are you still giving lessons at that school...?"- She asked. - At the Academy of Officers...yes. I 'm in my second year, actually."- Replied Kirk, thinking why in the same day the subject were being touched twice...by different persons. - Oh, I see you didn't like it too much...Tell me more about it."- She said, looking at him with those blue round and enigmatic eyes. - Well, it's being very simple : when I was promoted to Admiral, I lost Space travel; the Admirals didn't fly ships, you know. They remind grounded, performing technocratic tasks...Me, I prefer to teach..."- Kirk slammed the glass on a stool near by. - Calm on, my dear Admiral !"- She said, embracing him, while her glass run to the carpet. She kissed him real sweet, and then harder each time, making his blood begun to boil...She undressed , and they have sex. After the emotion, the counter emotion, or the lack of it. He takes a shower, and she dressed in no time. - Time to go."- He said, leaving some Credits on a red box, over the shelf. - My darling ! How I would like to gave you a brand new space ship for your birthday ! I guess then you will be happy."- Ravina said, looking at him in a gentle way. - You make me happy , already. Take care."- He said, kissing her good bye. She opened the door, and he walks out . When he was descending in the elevator, he were thinking in how interesting was her, her long nice body... her caresses...for a price. Kirk walks unto a Bar, and asks for another Bourbon. The place were full of smoke, as the smokers were in the loose. There were another places where the smokers weren't permitted, but he preferred that kind of atmosphere. It matched his kind of mood... - Hey, buddy, have a match?- A Negro man asked of him. - I don't smoke, friend."- He replied, looking at the other scars. The Negro grunted something, and went to ask for a match at other place of the saloon... Kirk begun looking at the show, a yellow skinned Asiatic, performing some exotic -and personal- dance , under a glaring music. Then a shout, and some noises were heard. The Negro was fighting three white people, and he was gaining , but then one of his foes smashed a bottle of wine in his head. Down he was, where he began receiving kicks. Kirk went there, and stops the three of them, by punching the fiercer looking guy in the mouth. He went down , crashing a table and all the glasses were spilled by the floor. Then it was a pandemonium of blows, and the Police gets in , taking all to the Station. - Hi, mate. Thanks for your help...Gee ! It hurts."- Said the Negro man, who was in the same cell. - Hi. "- Replied Kirk, touching tender parts in his body...Some of the guys hits like real mules ! - I Thanks your help. Somebody told me you managed to spare me my death, among those brutes. By the way, Sadiron is my name. - Kirk here... Guess we will pay a fine and be released. The damages weren't too much."- Kirk said. About half an hour elapsed, the lawyer appointed by Starfleet came to pay the bail and Kirk walks out. - What's happening here ? You, in Bar fights?= Mr. Dellington asked him. - Well, I detest to see an injustice. Three men beating a falling guy just in front of my eyes. "- Kirk said. The lawyer handled him a card, and told he will be in contact, as the Jury will probably fined him. - O.K., I don't know what to do with my money, lately."- Kirk said, closing the door of the car. The lawyer moves his head, departing. Kirk called a cab, and went home. It was late, and he should be sleeping, for to- morrow's classes... Simpertigue arrived at dawn, and he went to bed fully clothed. He was tired ,driving all night, mostly attending calls from drunkards afraid of driving into a sign post. Kirk wakes when the clock struck 06:00 hours. He went to take a shower, a shave and he decided it was too late for a cup of coffee. He gets into a cab, and fly to the Academy. There, all were new faces . More than the half part of them were females, as the males preferred to take courses for to work in battle cruisers, instead of scientific explorations, as he was lecturing. He asked them to stand and declare their names and former studies. In that way he learned more than just reading the facts in a visor plate. The most spectacular girl was Deane Droyan, age 22; she was tall, blue eyed and athletic looking. Also she was smiling openly at him, but when the class was over, he heard her saying " He seems to be a green old man...I will make believe he is turning me on." So he decided not to play any games with the female, or he would be acknowledged as the green old depraved professor... He takes all his CD's in a satchel and went out. - Hi, professor Kirk ! Want a ride ?"- It was Lagrange, grinning at the sidewalk. - Hi ! Thanks, I get to go looking for my car...I left it parked not too far from here.'- He said. - Be my guest !"- Lagrange smiled, opening the door of his taxi cab for him. They fly to the vicinity of Ravina's building. - There it is ! "- Lagrange advised, and he landed near the other car. - Thanks...take, for the fuel."- Kirk told Lagrange, handling him some Credits. - Thanks, Captain. I will receive it, as I was almost out of gas."- Lagrange said, grabbing the money. Kirk went to his car, but then he heard somebody yelling for help. It was a woman, all right, fighting two guys at the building's main entrance. Kirk went there at a run, and kicks both of the assailants without further questions. - Kirk ! My love, how, in the nick of time, you arrived ?"- Ravina told him, hugging him. She was crying. - What happened ?"- He asked, looking at the guys, who preferred to go, uttering maledictions. - Those two punks ! I dated one of them, but they appeared together, and for the same price they want to be...loved. And I don't mix things, my dear ! One at a time, and not too many ! I must protect my ... working tools...you know what I mean, don't you ?"- Ravina said, sobbing. - Of course. "- Kirk said, thinking in the motives she could have to be working as a whore, being so pretty it would be not too difficult for her to find a husband... - Want to came in ?"- Ravina asked. - No, you see...I was in jail last night, and this morning I was lecturing some students, back at the Academy..."- Kirk refused. - My darling , you in jail ! Oh, no ! You will not go now ! You must tell me the whole story !"- Ravina grinned, embracing him and giving a real kiss on his mouth. Kirk was turned in, so he went. - And are you don't ...working, to-day ?"- He asked her, waiting for the elevator at the main hall. - No, but don't you worry about me ! I have plenty of Credits in storage...I always managed to economize, for the bad days..."- She laughed, becoming herself again. They traveled up, enters her department, and she offers him a drink. - Bourbon, please."- He asked. - Oh, yes ! Your favorite poison."- Ravina grinned, pouring some in two glasses, and offering one to him, sipping at the other . She seats at his side, and listened to his complaining. Also he told her about the gorgeous student and her evil plans... - Forget that, my darling ! You have your honey here, to erase any other female from your tiny brain !"- She said, kissing him lightly. Kirk was amused with himself. This woman, a courtesan, a savior in the field of love, was slowly erecting the structure of a love [performance, gradually interesting a man in her attributes... that were many and of good quality...] - That woman will grow to no good, I assure you. The woman who pretends to laugh on men , sure she ends bad. Men almost never forgets a rebuke..."- Ravina said. - Notwithstanding what you are telling me, women has laughed on men since the beginning of time. Take Adam, for instance, that received an apple and loosed eternal life."- Kirk remembered. -I weren't there, so I cannot tell you if he didn't deserves the death."- She smiled gentle. - I guess he was the gentler of any men alive since then. In no part at all they say he bits his wife...and she deserves the biggest kick in the ass of all females put together !"- Kirk asseverated. - My dear Kirk ! "- She laughed, going to the kitchen. He paced the room, and then he heard voices and somebody began pounding at the door. - Who is it ?- He asked. - Open the door , you bastard!"- Someone yelled outside. - Do not open !"- Ravina told him, grabbing his arm. - Get the hell out of here !"- Kirk yelled to the guys outside the door. He wasn't afraid for him...but in relation to her, those punks could be very well intending to kill Ravina . - I will call the police."- he said. - Oh, no ! That is the less thing to do ! Do not forget I will keep on living here, and a thing like that would spoil my business..."- Ravina run to the door, and opened it, to stop the banging. - Hi, babe ! Remember us, Bitch !"- A man said to her, trying to grab her arm, but Ravina recoiled fast inside. - Stop the yelling, mate ! The girl is not alone, you know ?"- Kirk said, looking at the three guys. One was a Negro, the others of his race. - Kirk, old buddy !"- The Negro man said. Kirk looked him more intently, and recognized the jailbird Sadiron... - Hi ! Why, are you with this two punks ?"- Kirk asked him. Both white folks were more pale than usual, and their bravery was fading fast. - Why, you two knows each other ? -- One of them asked. - No matter, Felix ! This man is a puto, a lacho man ! He must take what he deserved !"- Said the other, more strongly build, giving a step unto Kirk. - Suit yourself, Kirk ! This two Huns paid me in advance to kick your ass, but I will not do such a thing to a mate. "- Sadiron said. - You traitorous Niger !"- The fiercest of the two males shouts. Sadiron paid no heed to his words any more. So the two guys focused on Kirk, trying to knock him down, but Kirk was trained to fight, so he managed to mangled both guys , after some wrecking chairs and tables of the house. Sadiron waited to see them beaten, and ends the spectacle by throwing both guys downstairs... - That will teach them a thing or two !"- He said, smiling. - Thanks for not to intervene."- Kirk said, sucking his knuckles, that were bleeding. - We better go, pal. I am hearing the whistles..."- Sadiron told Kirk. - Yes, darling, better you go... Came to-morrow, I will be waiting for you."-Ravina told to the ex Captain of Starfleet... They used the elevator, and just in time, as when they were descending, the police cars were turning the corner...approaching... - Lets walk the other way."- Sadiron told Kirk. - Great ! My car is over there."- He said, so they get inside, and depart...meanwhile, the policemen were opening the doors of their cars. and two guys- the punks- were with them, speaking excitedly and pointing to the building... - Poor lady. Those policemen surely will carry her to the Station."- Sadiron said. - Then I will go there to help!"- Kirk said. - Oh, no ! No need to be involved more of the count ! You had donned what were supposed of you ! Now you take me to down - town , and then you go to your house and rest for the morrow...or are you not working ?"- The Negro asked, lighting a cigarette. - Yes, I work in the Academy..."- He replied... - A real Teacher, I suppose ? - A real teacher, yes. Once I was a captain in the stars...now I am a teacher in classroom"- Kirk expressed. - Sorry my intrusion, mate, but you sounded bitter." - I am ... seeing Life gave us posts in the daily struggle, but then Life takes it away, and we enter to calm waters..."- Kirk said. - Drop me down there, pal... Guess the Destiny makes us reunite twice for a purpose. I guess you should gave me your address... I don't gave you mine, as there are assailants 24 hours a day round there..."- Sadiron grinned. Kirk handled him one of his cards, that read : -------------------------------------------- James Tiberius Kirk Admiral,F.P.S.F. 34897 - sfsk. Chicago.Ill. ------------------------------------------- - Oh ! A real Admiral, here ! Sir ! Thanks for the raid."- Sadiron said, jumping out of the car. Kirk grinned and take off immediately. He headed to his home... a mere apartment in a big building... There was a person waiting at the reception hall. - Sulu !"- Kirk said, handshaking the Asiatic, who were using a SF Captain's uniform. - Good afternoon, Admiral ! Glad to see you ! - Sulu said. - Came upstairs ! There we could talk at ease."- Kirk said. They take the elevator, and there Sulu said :-"I came here to pay you a visit , and also to discuss certain matters."- - I will be pleased to talk to you."- Kirk replied, opening the door of his apartment. Sulu seated at a sofa, and Kirk offered a drink, that Sulu refused. - Well, I will drink a Bourbon."- Kirk smiled, serving himself a glass. He seats in front of Sulu, saying :-" You wouldn't believe it, but to day I was in a row, for the second day in many months... It makes me remember of the old days." - Of that ,precisely, I were going to talk to you. They had appointed me as the Captain of a new Orion Class ship, the " Catalina". 340 crew members."- He said. - Congratulations ! When you depart ?"- Kirk said, enthusiastically. - In two weeks. So I decided to gave a big party, using the Casino of the Officers, here in Chicago city. What do you say, would it be possible that you could assist ?"- Sulu asked. - Of course ! It is for a good reason, I suppose ..."- Kirk smiled. - Yes, all the money will go to the SF Orphanage. I will invite all the former "Enterprise" crew members... Half of them had said yes to my request. Even some of them had paid in advance !"- Sulu grinned. - Good. "- Kirk said, lowering his eyes to the carpet. It will be like a burial of his old glories.... - And I have to request of you some words , to be spoken to us all, in that dinner party. We all be delighted if you could direct us some words."- Sulu asked. Kirk moved his arms to the sides, and stands up. - Me... some words ? Oh, gee ! I would be speechless... in front of you, new appointed Captains... flying where nobody had gone before... without me !"-Kirk said. - That is ! Exactly that is , Admiral ! You stay here, and we are like your seeds, going out again, with the knowledge you certainly gave us !"- Sulu said, eagerly. - O.K., Captain Sulu. I will be there... with a speech..."- Kirk accepted. Sulu gave him some cards, indicating the exact location, date and hour of the celebration... Then he went out, thankful. - Oh, damn !"- Kirk said, turning on the TV set, to hear the last news... ************************************* The Casino of Officers was painted, the entrance and windows were decorated, and Sulu was busy seeing the hardware and mantel pieces were in correct order. The first invited begun to arrive. Officers, their wives, and the bachelors and girls of Starfleet Administration building, eager to have a good dancing party, after the speeches... Kirk arrives one hour past the appointed hour, and he was seated in the honor table ,where several other Admirals and Captains were already making toasts... - Glad to see you, Admiral."- Spock told him , looking very serious and elegant in his Captain's attire. - Don't tell me ! You will go in a mission !"- Kirk said. - Yes. How do you knew it ? I am the new Captain of the Orion starfleet vessel " Theodore Schultz "... but don't ask me my mission. It's top secret."- The Vulcan said. - Oh, yes ! And congratulations. Try to came back in one piece."- Kirk grinned. After some half hour more, when all the seats were occupied, and it was an achievement, as there were 3.000 chairs in that hall, Sulu went to a podium , erected in front of the tables , and said, by the loudspeakers : - Admirals, Captains and ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon to you all ! Here are we at last, paying honors to the best Captain Starfleet ever ! Admiral James Kirk !" But tell him While he wanders his starry sea Remember, remember me.  Kirk went to the podium, and facing everyone with his accustomed challenging stare, said "- I remember our rescue mission to a planet whose sun were about to [super]nova , and with my officers Spock, and McCoy we was send to various areas of the planet's past. I was tried there as a witch, but eventually I get back to the present with the help of another time-leaper. Then I knew Spock and McCoy were sent to a glacial age. Spock falls in love with Zarabeth, a redhead convict, who was sent back into the glacial age as punishment. The librarian (Mr. AtoZ) runs the time machine with android clones of himself. Mr AtoZ accepted to retrieve my officers when I grabbed him by the neck ! One amazing fact was that the people of that planet have mastered time travel but not space travel. {laughs} - That is why the Admiralty didn't appoint me as a Diplomat !"- Kirk adds, and they laugh again. " Here are we, to remember those travels we did in the old " Enterprise"...I remember also Mr. Lazarus ,who was a schizophrenic time traveler whose personalities were fighting each other through time and space. There were a rip in the space/time fabric and Lazarus were looking to be the key to the anomaly. There was a fire in engineering started by Lazarus to steal dilithium crystals (which he needs to power his ship in order to kill his alternate personality). "Of course, I didn't help him in that, so he ends forever in a world resembling a lot to the old Limbo... May he be at peace, now ! Then we was heading for Altair 6 for some ceremony . Here, our Vulcan Spock steals the Enterprise and goes to Vulcan to take a wife (T'Pring, the woman to whom he was betrothed), due to Pon Far, the instinctive Vulcan mating cycle which strikes adult male Vulcans every seven years. T'Pring doesn't want to marry Spock, so she calls for Kunut Kalifee, a fight to the death. Spock and I end up fighting for T'Pring. T'Pau (a high-ranking (female) Vulcan official) oversees the ceremony. Yes ! And Doctor McCoy complains that the fight wouldn't be fair for me, because of the thin Vulcan atmosphere. T'Pau allowed him to give me a triox compound to compensate, but he gives me a neural paralyzer instead. This makes it appear as if Spock has actually killed me (since I appears dead). They beam my body back up to the ship and McCoy revived me. So you see, ladies and gentlemen, I am a newly born ! {Laughs} - " Chekov makes his debut in that trip ! "After that trip a group of brats under the leadership of the Friendly Angel steal the Enterprise, after killing their parents. The Friendly Angel convinced them that with their parents out of the way they'd be able to have much more fun. The children play on the secret fears of the crew to make them imagine things that aren't there (e.g.: Sulu sees knives coming at the screen and refuses to change course.) I eventually convinces the brats that they miss their parents by showing them visual recordings of them playing on the planet . So we get ride of them... and headed here at warp 9 !"- Kirk said. They laughed, and somebody said " Keep on, good Captain Kirk !" - I will." {Laughs} - I remember once to have beamed two red shirts into space, and I think they are still in orbit around the planet..." Kirk takes a sip of water, and continues :- " To day is a happy day in my life, seeing your gratitude and your smiling faces, all this smiling faces God had permitted me to see in my almost middle age... Thanks and God bless you all ." Kirk went to his seat in a big round of applause. Uhura was at the podium now, and she said :-" Hello, Captain !" - Hello !"- Kirk said, from his seat. - I am here to tell you all, people, how nice was to be with Captain Kirk in those adventures ! I remember once the Enterprise were under attack by Vaal, a big stone idol that the primitive natives feed. It was really a machine that guided the actions and environment of the populace. There were no children on the planet. Everyone speaks perfect English except they don't know the words "children" or "love". "Here I want to say our Captain Kirk we did know the meaning of the word love, because he shows how he loved us, endangering his life not once, but several times, there in those far away beaches of Space. Thanks you , Captain Kirk, God bless you !" Uhura went to his place, among the applause of all the assembled people. Sulu went to the podium, and announced Chekov. He came to the podium smiling, and produced a wad of paper. - Let me say you a few words about Captain ... pardon me, Admiral Kirk." {Laughs} - He was the Captain went I was Ensign. he confided me the steerage of the ship Enterprise since the beginning. In that ship I fall for the first time in love, for Yeoman Martha London.... Not that she cares much of it !" {Laughs} "-But the time for love ends when the Gorns (a race of lizard-like beings) destroyed the Federation's Cestus 3 outpost. The Enterprise were in pursuit, when Captain Kirk and the Gorn commander were transported to a planet by the Metrons (a highly advanced race who live 1500+ year lives) for a duel to the death, winner is allowed to leave with his ship. The two ships are allowed to view the battle on viewer screens. Captain Kirk wins, but refuses to kill the Gorn, saying that they can probably talk out their differences... So you see, he was kind even to his enemies !" {Applause} " Once we , at the "Enterprise", travel back in time ("using the light speed breakaway method") to 1968 on a historical research mission. A plot develops when we accidentally intercept a long-range (1000 light years away) transporter beam. "Mr. Gary Seven, along with his cat Isis, were on their way to Earth from a hidden planet to check on the development of his fellow agents who were supposed to sabotage and destroy a U.S. nuclear warhead to prevent World War Three. He claims to have been taken from Earth ages ago by another planet. "Captain Kirk must decide if he is telling the truth or if he is a time-traveling saboteur. Gary Seven finds out that his fellow agents died in a car accident and decides to finish their mission. Miss Lincoln is a bimbo secretary of his deceased agent cohorts. " So you see, Captain Kirk also saved the Earth in those first travels !"{Applause} Chekov salutes, and went to his seat , hearing the applause. Scotty worked his way to the Podium, and breathing hard, he drinks half glass of water, then he smiled at all those people, and said : - "Good afternoon ! Let me say a word about our Captain Kirk, here ! "In one of our missions, the "Enterprise " follows a shadow into the neutral zone near where some outposts were destroyed. "Captain Kirk matches wits against the Romulan commander, trying to guess his next moves. "The Romulans have a cloaking device and superior weapons, but the Enterprise was able of a superior speed (to the point that they can almost out-run the photon torpedoes . That was the time when Mr. Styles was prejudiced against Spock when we saw that Romulans looks like Vulcans. The two races were once a single race according to Captain Spock...." Scotty grinned to Spock, among the laughter of the people. Spock was hard faced, as usual. "- After that trip, we found an alternate Earth where Rome never fell. Looks Roman except for 20th century technology to me.... "Then there was an alien race known as the Kelvins come from the Andromeda galaxy over many generations and wreck their ship. Their galaxy is becoming unlivable, so they wish to take the Milky Way for themselves by force. They steal the Enterprise and turn all of us into cubes. They pick up from the floor several pieces of metallic debris. Charred, blackened by the heat, the sheets were transformed in rustic knives. The woman Elise was red eyed, and she sobs. Her soul was thinking again and again in the deceased crew members... The Andorian shrieked :- ' We must abandon this site, and began searching for civilization. I am informed this planet has intelligent beings, who dwell near rivers and also along the coasts." - The Gooshinkos."- Kirk mentioned them. - How they look like ?"- Simpertigue asked. - You don't want to know."- Kirk replied. - How do you know that ?'- The Andorian asked. -When I was an ensign on the USS Republic NCC-1371, we passed by this sector. And I saw them. The Andorian flexed his legs and arms around some branches, and he sleeps so immobile as the log where he was standing. The fog was dense, and the sun was not able to dissipate it. In the third day the found a river., a turbulent river that went over the rocks with speed and a rumble of stones. The foam was traveling by the air, as the wind was strong . They all drink of the chilly water. - I guess we must walk this side of the river."- Kirk said. There were mud pools in the way, but there were not insects ,due to the cold in the air. Some bushes ,scant grass , and lots of stones were all the landscape has to offer. - We hadn't eat a shit.."- Simpertigue said, as he was very upset. - We will lay among some rocks. Try to lit a fire."- Kirk asked. So Simpertigue tried hard to lit some dry leaves, but to not avail. - Pity the ship was blowed to bits ! Not even the first aid is present."- Simpertigue told Kirk. - I gave thanks to the Creator JHV I am alive. So should you.|"- Kirk said. Shirriak ,who was atop a boulder, saw a luminous object moving over the waters, so he call the others. - Must be some kind of camera."- Simpertigue said. The Andorian begun a strange and shrieking bellow, and the object passes over them, in a fast flight. Then it went up, disappearing in the distance. - Hope he will advise of our permanence here !'- The Andorian said. The humans lay in the floor, trying to sleep. The Andorian went to some bushes, where he perched himself. At midnight they all were sleeping, with the river running 50 meters away. The hours begun to roll.... - Kirk ! Wake up !"- It was the twittering voice of the Andorian. Kirk opened his eyes and saw the impossible face of the insect barely 8 inches away. - What's wrong ? " -- He asked - It is a ship around here !"- Was the amazing answer of the Andorian. The luminosity of the object was red, and tinted all the stones and bushes with the color of the blood... - Simpertigue, Elise, wake up !"- Kirk demanded. They stand up, fast, looking at the new ship, who was a dark blotch against the stars, with angular shape and all the inferior part was streaked with brilliant bars , obviously his gravity reflectors. It landed, and then some doors were opening and a lot of running beings went to them, and beginning to push them all aboard ship. They were no more than 1.50 meters high, but their legs and arms were too wide apart, also their heads rested in their shoulders, having no neck at all. They al wear white garments. that glared with the ship's lights. Kirk yelled at them, to not avail . No answer except some grunts were audible. Then they were walking up the plank, who was oiled, and carried to a dark room, where they were locked... It was dark, moist and smelled to fuel. The ship rocked and then it gained speed, with a little swaying . Two guards opened the door, and put a tray in the floor. Elise Collins takes the tray, but one of the guards pushed him. - Hey. ! More care. you slimy alien !"- Simpertigue yelled at the guard, who shuts the door with a bang. The ship was now swaying to and fro, and they tried not to panic, in the dark. They eat the stuff , that smelled of rotten fish, but they were too hungry to notice. -This people has no manners."- Elise said. - Gooshinkos are in space nobody knows for sure. They didn't have a proper language, and their manners are non existent."- Shirriak lectured. - When you hired me, you said I was not being repented. Well, I am !"- Kirk told the Andorian. - My apologizes, Captain Kirk. It was not mean to be this way."- The insect said. - Yeah ! And now , what ?"- Simpertigue interrupted The Andorian didn't reply... The rumble keeps on by some minutes, and then the door was open and the guards takes them out, without a word, just grabbing them by the arms. The fingers were rustic. and the hand were with protuberances. They went down the ladder, and Elise slips, falling to the mud , at the feet of the ladder. Simpertigue went for her, but a guard gave him a kick with the weapon he was carrying. - You damned brute ! - Simpertigue yelled, and grabs the weapon, pointing at the astounded guard. The rest of the assembled points their weapons against the human. - You better leave that thing on the ground, or we will have a short visit to the city."- Kirk said. Simpertigue throw the weapon with all his might , so it lands far away. The rest of the guards began to push them, so they keep on walking, with Simpertigue helping Elise Collins to walk by the mud. Kirk was seeing the city, who was in plain sight, as the air terminal was in a slope. A big swamp was there to see, also some big balls of translucent material, more than 400 meters high, surrounded by many others of smaller size. They were iridescent, and they were united by threads , who at close sight were streets. Hundreds of people were walking by them, going to and from the buildings. They were walking by the swamp, and the people of the city were there, staring at them and making those strange noises, his manner of speech. - To be so bad educated didn't forbids them to build this strange balls where to live."- Kirk told Simpertigue. - Damned brutes ! I see no point in living among them."- Was his answer. They arrive to the foot of one of those spheres, and by a tall door they get inside. A thousand corridors were in sight, and the holes in the strange material resembles a big Camembert cheese, was also the smell was present... The guards present them to the jettison of the sphere. This others seem as indifferent to them as the ship crew who carried them . Shirriak barely moved his long skinny legs, devoid of energy. They were locked in another room, dark and humid. - Prisoners !"- Shirriak said, seating at the floor. - They had no reason to do this ! But their were too hungry to notice it. At noon they opened the door and pushed them by several long corridors The floor was humid, and the smell was of rotten eggs. The light came from holes in one of the walls. Shirriak stumbled often, so Kirk was helping him all the way. They get inside a big saloon, full of those people, seated in the slippery floor. At the other side of the room, a dais was set, and a big monster were looking hither and thither from there. Several dozen creatures were serving the giant, who was three times the size of a common gooshinko. And it was a gooshinko, too ! The personnel was oiling him, caressing, and feeding fruits and meat, in dishes of porcelain. The humans and the Andorian were pushed against the dais, so the king of those creatures were just a dozen meters away.... They saw that some flies were surrounding the over-developed gooshinko, so he could grab them with a forked and dark tongue, closing his eyes in delight, each time he managed to catch a fat black fly with it... - Simpertigue, I think you're going to love it here .|"- Kirk grinned. - Damn brute !"- Was his answer. The king observed the woman, and ask his guards to take her closer, to look better the ways of her. But both males reacted, and they fought the guards with their fists. The guards didn't fire their weapons , as they were too close to his king, but just the same beats them to unconsciousness, so they carried both humans out of the chamber, dragging them. The king drinks some jugs in a rapid sequence, and then grabbed the girl by both arms, with his two at hands, reeking of dead meat. - Sueltame, bicho asqueroso !"- She yelled, and the king began to laugh, throwing pieces of half digested food all around. The servers finds it very amusing, and began to laugh, in their choking way.... The long tongue of the king began to enter in each orifice the lady has, so she almost get mad at all, trying to avoid that black kind of serpent. The king gave a short order, and they take her away, crying. Shirriak was totally terrified, but he was standing there, immobile. The king motioned for him to approach, thing he did, and the hands of that monster grabbed his, and jerking one of them severed him an arm. The great gooshinko eat the white flesh who was dangling from the piece of chitin material he was handling, and throw it to the floor, disgusted of its taste. The king gave some orders, and the Andorian was sent to a cell, under the same hall. There Shirriak seats, on the humid floor, trying to stop the bleeding of his arm... ------------------------- Kirk awoke. There was someone singing... Hail, hail, Fire and snow. Then he appeared, walking like a big dinosaur. He did a gurgling sound, and plunged into the warm scented waters, where farted with delight. The putrid smell awoke the revulsion in Elise Collins, who looks at the monster in sheer terror. The voice of the king echoed along the room, ordering his attendants to fetch him the human. So they throw her into the water, and the fat hands of the amphibious creature grabbed her strongly. - Leave me alone, you brute !"- She said. But he was laughing again, and he began to play with his tongue again... She grabbed the slimy dark tongue with both hands, and jerked with all her might. The piece of tongue was in her hands, limping. she has severed the appendice ! - Eooooolllll !"- Bellowed the king, and began to shake his enormous bulk inside the pool, so she swim and get to the border. A lot of angry faces were there, to forbid her to go. The old fashioned sound of bullets hitting walls and bodies fills the air. Some humans get inside the room, making the green blood of the gooshinkos run to meet the scented waters where the king was taking his bath of pain and sorrow....for the first time in his filthy life. - Hey, you ! Came over here ! No time to waste !"- A Negro man 's voice boomed inside the bath room of the Emperor . She run and was grabbed by the Negro, who was using a filthy garment. There were some others too, that she recognizes .....personnel of the guard of the RapaNui ! And the Negro was the chief of them all...Mr. Sadiron ! - Where are the others ?"- He asked, in a terrible voice. - I don't know ! They carried them out of the chamber !"- She yelled back. - Damn it !"- Sadiron said, and they went by the corridors, opening doors and looking inside. They went to the inferior levels, where the filth was great, and after some time, they find Shirriak. - I am wounded !"- He said, with a broken chirrup. They found Kirk and Simpertigue some corridors away, and it was because the guys were banging at the door, trying to be released... - Sadiron ! I don't know how you managed to survive the explosion, but thanks for the rescue !"- Simpertigue said. - I will receive congratulations later. Now we must run from here, or they will fry us !"- Sadiron said, running along the corridor. They climbed the stairs, and went out of the sphere, to the swamps. - We have some vehicle, round the corner."- Grinned Sadiron to Kirk. - Guess I know now how you save your lives : you all went out in a shuttle !"- Kirk said, - Right ! We almost hit the ground, but managed to land in a half decent way. But the ship was busted, lucky one of the guards also has a degree on Mechanics, so he reappeared the landing exhausts. And we are using the tiny vehicle ...we landed here two days ago, and we saw you being taken here ., from one of their vessels... Dirty rats !"- Sadiron explained. They arrive to the shuttle, a 10 persons craft, able to fly for short periods. - Aboard !"- Sadiron said, looking to the king's bubble. A lot of guards were coming from that direction... The shuttle departs with a pair of bursts, and almost crashed against the big bubble. Kirk went to the cabin, and saw one of the guards piloting the ship. - Let me handle this ship."- Kirk said, and the other gave him the controls . Sadiron went inside the cockpit, saying :'- Admiral, we have a hide-about several kilometers away. Near a river. I will show you the way." And he was directing him , until they landed in a place devoid of rocks. Sadiron was directing his team, covering the ship with branches, as he was preoccupied of the scouts coming from the city of the gooshinkos. Kirk revised the hand of Shirriak, who was leaning on a cot, inside the shuttle. - Bad wound, captain. I am going to die. But first, take my map. I will sign the papers... you will be the owner of my mines of dilithium, in the vicinity of Reiru, in the Gamma Hydra 4 Sector." So he did, signing with his spare hand, and Kirk takes the papers, thinking in how difficult were the possibility of to be showing those papers to the authorities, in Reiru... Shirriak died that night, and he was buried in a hole , covered with stones and Kirk himself said a few words in his behalf. After the ceremony, Kirk counted all the humans at his command :Ten, with Elise Collins included... - I am sending a distress call since the first moment, Admiral. Subspace communications. They answered me just today, that's is because I went there to try and rescue you. Because the rescue party from Federation will not mingle with the natives, not even if you were prisoners. The girls went to a man with a Commander 's insignia. The guy looked in their direction, and walks to salute them. - Good afternoon, gentlemen. Who of you is Admiral Kirk ? - I am."- - Glad to meet you ! I am Commander Treskow, and I will be glad to do anything in my power to help you. They said to me you were marooned at the Gooshinko's neighborhood ?" - Yes, we landed there ,after a failure in our ship, the " Rapa Nui"....totally lost ,as it exploded when landing. Almost all the crew members are died."- Kirk related. - Pity on them ! Perhaps an old model ? - A Lightsaber Class ship. Something went wrong in middle of a Jump." - Oh, that ! Perhaps it was a long elapsed Jump, and the engines didn't stand the tension..."- Commander TREskow said. - Perhaps. - Well ! Tell me where are you.' So he said, and the attorney hung up, wishing him a better luck for the next time. Kirk was seated in front of the machine, and Dulina Mazia was standing near him. Tell me where we are going to sleep?'- Kirk asked to Dulina Mazia. - The Commander said you will have two adjacent rooms, in the prow. In the group there were three mineralogists, who began to express their admiration by the radio, to enlighten spirits aboard the "Yarmulke" They find the crystals of Dilithium all right, and Sadiron makes everyone to carry some of those gems to the ship. So the arrival was a brilliant one, as the crystals were shining under the lights . - Fine ! I will pay you the money, Mr. Kirk. "- Mr. Isaac said, and he really paid. Mr. Isaac will replenish the ship with the Dilithium crystals, and he will go straight to Earth, as he is willing to sell it with the utmost earnings he could !"- Sadiron replied. - And when that will be ?- Kirk asked. - About three weeks from now. Take in consideration, Admiral, that the crystals are to be retired from the walls ! So I will went to help the mining team , to shorten the delay."- Sadiron replied. - So am I !"- Kirk said. - Suit yourself. I didn't came here to dig."- Simpertigue said. - You better think it over, friend ! Old Mr. Isaac will pay for the day !
