Colin Baker
Best known for two television roles - the Sixth Doctor in "Doctor Who" and Paul Merroney in "The Brothers" - Colin Baker was born in London, but raised and educated in Rochdale and Manchester. He studied Law for five years, and then drama at LAMDA. He made his debut in Plaintiff in a Pretty Hat at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, and then in The Other House at the Mermaid Theatre in London.
Colin is married to the actress Marion Wyatt, whom he met when he played opposite her in Private Lives. They live in Buckinghamshire with their four daughters, four cats, three dogs and two ponies.
Colin is also a successful writer, his short stories written under a pseudonym were recorded by Telstar for their "Talking Books" series, and he writes a weekly column for The Bucks Free Press, a local newspaper in Buckinghamshire. He has also written several musicals for children with his songwriting partner, George Hastings, including a version of "A Christmas Carol" entitled Scrooge's Christmas. He is also the proud possessor of a Gold disc for versions of "I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas" and "Good King Wencelas" released in Holland, where "The Brothers" was a huge success.
Theatre credits include: Laertes in Hamlet at Windsor, the Doctor in Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure on a national tour, Terri Dennis in Privates on Parade, Magwitch in Great Expectations on a national tour with Darren Day, and more recently the Dascoignes (all 6!) in Kind Hearts and Coronets on a national tour with Robert Powell, and the Manager in a national tour of Out of Order with Deborah Watling & Trevor Bannister.
Pantomime appearances include: Buttons in Cinderella, King Rat in Dick Whittington, Widow Twankey in Aladdin, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Heinkel in Goldilocks, Bluebeard in Robinson Crusoe, and Dame Durden in Babes in the Wood.
Other television credits include: War and Peace, Blake's 7, Young Indiana Jone Chronicles, Swallows & Amazone Forever, Jonathan Creek, The Knock, Casualty, The Bill, Hollyoaks, A Dance To The Music of Time, Sunburn, Countdown.
