At Hyrule Castle there are three Gossip Stones, two Gold Skulltula but no Pieces of Heart. Time moves normally on the grounds but not in the courtyard. The grounds remain constant 24 hours, but you will only have a chance at traversing the courtyard during the day.

Castle Grounds
Throughout the grounds are several highly-vigilant guards. If any of them catch sight of Link, they will capture him and throw him out. If you get close enough to the guards to talk to them, they will capture you. The only solution is avoiding them as much as possible. The route to take to avoid the guards and reach the castle itself is easy enough to map out, but the trick is getting there first. Look near Malon for a climbable vine.
As you get close to Hyrule Castle, there is another wall you must climb to reach the moat. Now you can swim through the moat to avoid the other guards and reach Talon, sleeping peacefully. By now you should have Malon's Weird Egg, so wait for it to hatch into a Cucco and you will be able to wake Talon up and move him out of the way. Now, see those crates? Push them towards the gap where Talon was sleeping to get high enough to jump through a drain - it has the Triforce symbol on it, so it's pretty easy to spot. When you get right up against this drain, you'll be able to crawl into it using A.

Castle Courtyard
Young Link and Zelda You will only be able to access the courtyard at any time, but at night and after you have all three Spiritual Stones there will be two rather large guards in the way, making it impossible for you to get into the courtyard. If you get caught by the guards, you will be thrown out of the castle and return to the area near the drain.
Most of the courtyard is just avoiding as many of the guards. So long as you don't get close enough to the guards to speak to them, and they don't look directly at Link, you will remain undetected. Once you get to the point where you must travel up instead of left, you've reached the final two screens. Once you reach the back of this area, turn left and you'll have access to a nice vacant area with Princess Zelda.
You will have to talk to Princess Zelda for a while to establish your mission of finding all of the two remaining spiritual Stones. You will also be able to return here and to learn about the location of the last remaining Spiritual Stone, but it's basically the same information you could get by talking to Navi or Saria. In short, there is little to be gained from the Castle Courtyard by returning here after meeting Zelda.
