[8:55 am, Delta Office]

Newt walked grumbling into the office and even the sight of the donuts did little to lift his spirits as he grabbed a glazed blueberry donut and savagely bit into it.
Flynn grinned, "What'd that donut do to you?"
"I'm just having a bad day."
"All ready?" Flynn said handing him a cup of coffee. "That's not a good sign."
Newt grunted taking the cup and promptly spilling it down his clean white shirt. "DAMN!"
Napkins were thrust in his face from three different directions, as well as giggles. Newt frowned, "Things were going to good .. it was bound to happen." He groaned, "They were supposed to deliver my new bed last night. But they never showed. I called and the store said it was an 'error in bookkeeping'. And error in bookkeeping! Can you imagine."
He finished cleaning the spill from both his shirt and the desk in front of him. "Well at least I'm not wearing that plain ol' horrible white anymore," he said looking unhappily at the brown spot down his front. "So anyway, I had to sleep yet again on the bed that came with this 'furnished apartment' .. lumps, broken springs and all!"
"Is that all," Kat quipped, "Just a lumpy bed?"
"I wish!" Newt said looking at her, "No, then there was no hot water .. and the cap driver didn't speak English and dropped me off nearly a mile away .. thankfully I was able to convince him to go a few more blocks. Seems he has something against Hoover and this building!"
"Don't worry," Kate said sympathetically, "It'll get better. We have a case."
He looked up at her with doubt in his eyes, "A case .. like the one that had us cleaning out outdated files on Monday?"
"No," she chuckled, "A real case."

[1:00am, Newt's apartment]
Closing the door to his miserable apartment, Newt locked it then slung his bright purple bag over his shoulder and turned to head down to the street to shoo down a cab.
As he spun he nearly knocked down an elderly woman coming down the stairs. She clung to the railing as if for dear life and glared at the young man. "Watch were you're going!" she screeched. "You nearly killed me!"
"Oh ma'am, I'm so sorry," he said offering her a hand. "I didn't see you."
"None of you young folk do anymore. You think you get to be my age and you don't matter!"
"Oh no, honest. I didn't .."
"No respect," she muttered as she headed down the steps.
He rolled his eyes and moved in quickly beside her, "Let me help you. Honest I feel really bad."
"I've been doing on my own for over 60 years! I don't need your help." She huffed and continued on her way.
Newt shrugged and followed. Of course he gave the first cab to her, hoping to soothe her feelings, but she continued to glare at him.
He climbed in the next cab and was soon on his way to the airport.
