Randa started to go back into the Hollow, but then decided that maybe a little bit of fresh air would help her clear her head. Nothing else had, not even getting out of town for awhile.
She thought about what she'd said to Cody about why she was upset and knew she hadn't been completely straightforward with him. Yes, she was still upset about Calderon's death, but, truth be told, she could just barely remember everything that had happened. Things had went so quickly that she hadn't really had time to think about them. The only time it'd actually registered with her was when she'd gone home and her sister had commented on her appearance. She'd been concerned to say the least, but Randa hadn't given her any reasons as to why she'd come home looking as she had.
She muttered something, a bit angry that what little she remembered had been dredged up. The ringing of her cell phone pushed the remainder of those thoughts out of her head.
"Hello?"
"Randa, it's Detective Ramsey. I just found out some news about your sister." Randa couldn't help but grin.
"Well, what is it, Tim?!"
"We finally got to talk to her today. Whoever's got her is starting to slack off on their watching of her. No one's been able to get a hold of your mother, so you might want to tell her that and we did get a trace from
the number. There are several detectives waiting for the next time this guy makes a move, so we'll get him before long."
"Good, when you do I want to talk to him, okay?"
"You got it. Anyway, I'm sure you're busy, so I'll let you go."
"Thanks for letting me know, Tim, and I'll call Momma and let her know." Randa hung up and went back inside, suddenly feeling much better, the change in her attitude apparent to everyone at the table.
"You're in a good mood all of a sudden," Emily said.
Randa nodded, still smiling. "Just found out some good news."
