Runes

Runes are of Scandinavian origin and were originally used as an alphabet (both mystical and mundane), pictographs (words), and game pieces. Runes were usually made from bones...in fact, I believe that I heard somewhere that rune does mean bone. I'll find out, but if you know for sure (whether I am full of crap or right on) e-mail me! But the runes I made myself, I made from Fimo(R). Fimo(R) is a plastic used for making artsy jewlery, usually those doorknocker earrings.

The runes we will deal with here are called the Elder Futhark and are Germanic in origin and perhaps the oldest known version of the runic system as well as the simplest. The name is taken from the first twelve letters in the alphabet. Different versions of the Elder Futhark runes have different names, but they are shown below as I know them. Please keep in mind that these are just the basics.
