Jamie firdt encountered the X-Men when they went to Scotland to battle Proteus(Mutant X). After battleing a short time, Proteus toke control of one of Jamie's duplicates, but it burned out. AFter that whole thing ended, Jamie went to back to America and joined the Fallen Angels. Jamie was soon lured to Muir Island by the Shadow King, only to be possesed and fight against the X-Men. After the Shadow King was defeated, Jamie joined the new wave of X-Factor, as a founding member. Jamie spent his time in X-Factor happy, he had made many good friends, such as Havok and Strong Guy. When X-Factor took a mission to Genosha to track down an escaped mutant, one of Jamies "clones" was infected with the Legacy Virus. When the duplicate was reabsorbed, it was believed that Jamie himself had contracted the disease. X-Factor soon encountered Haven, who offered a cure to Jamie. Something went wrong and Jamie died. A couple of years later, a very different X-Factor encountered a group of men on the run. It was actually Jamie and his duplicates. Forge, then leader, offered Jamie his place on the team, but jamie declined due to the fact that such villians as Sabretooth and Mystique were members. Soon after, Sabretooth decimated the team and most of the members quit. Havok then gotr a team together and asked if Jamie wantred to join. Jamie declined again, but said if he ever needed anything Jamie would be there. Jamie soon after officially joined the team.
