Carole Virginia Winesett

Born 6-Aug-1923
Daughter of Eli Winesett and Della Mae Steele

Married 15-Apr-1944 Vincent James Withheld

Virginia entered the 8th grade following the summer the family moved to Plymouth, NC. She transferred to Whiteville and stayed with Kate and Dr. Green until her graduation in 1944 {there were only 11 grades}. She attended Eastern Carolina Teachers' College for one year taking a business course. She remember there were insufficient typewriters and she would have to wait hours for access. A striking picture of Virginia was taken while taking part in a play at ECTC.

Virginia returned to Plymouth. She met Vince at a dance at Cherry Point where Vince was stationed at the time. Vince would fly his B-29 over the house while on training missions and waggle his wings. Father, Eli, would comment, "Here is that damn fool again!"

After their children were grown, Virginia and Vince moved to Winchester, VA. They would spend winters in a mobile home park in Tampa. Vince died in Tampa. He is missed by all. Virginia continues to spend winters in Tampa.

Vince and Virginia's children are:
1. Vincent James Jr.,
2. Catherine Steele,
3. Kevin Richard,
4. Carole Linda,
5. Claire Ann.

Any information about the members of this family would be appreciated.
