Lois said that her birth spoiled Christmas for brother Ralph who
wanted a "Jackie Cougan" doll for Christmas.
Lois walked to a one room school until the 5th grade. She graduated from
Ceres High School in 1942 and from St. Lukes Hospital Training School for
Nurses in Richmond, VA, in 1946. Part of her training included serving
on a Blackfoot Indian reservation in Browning, Montana.
Lois loved the operating room and did graduate work at O.R. Baylor Hospital
in Dallas, Texas. Lois was also a nurse at Yellowstone Park. Lois
gratuated from Duke Hospital School of Anesthesia in Durham, NC, in 1956
and passed the National Boards for "CRNA". Lois retired January 1, 1983,
from Forsyth Memorial Hospital after 25 years and 7 months of "putting
people to sleep". She still lives in Winston-Salem.
Lois never married.
