Jesse was born in Ceres, Bland County, VA. Jesse served in the South Pacific during WWII (1943-1945) with the navy. After discharge from service, he drove a distribution route for a Pepsi Cola bottling company for 46 years. He is now retired in Marion, VA.

Maude owned and operated a beauty salon. Maude's sister, Mary Rose Hash, age 86, widow of James G. Hash, died 22-Jun-1999 in Smyth County. Another sister, Golda Tolley of Elk Creek survives.

Jesse and Maude's children are:
1. Carol Jean (21-Dec-1940 to 14-Apr-2000) who married Thomas and
2. Linda Sue 13-Jan-1946) who married Patrick.

Carol and Thomas have a son, Mark.
