Duncan's life during the 1600's

There is a prophecy that a child born on the winter solstice will destroy Roland Cantos, so he goes hunting for the child to destroy him. Cassandra knows of the prophecy and protects Duncan.

Duncan and Debra are in love but she is promised to Robert. Duncan gives Debra a bracelet to remember him by. Ian forces Duncan to kill his life long friend and clansman Robert, as a matter of honor. Debra dies accidentally as Duncan says goodbye to her.

Duncan experiences his first death, and revival in front of his father Ian, and other clansmen. Thinking him a demon Ian banishes him from Clan and home.

October, 1622

After surviving the first bitter winter without his clan. Duncan encounters Ian, he learns that Ian is not his natural father....he is a foundling.

Hearing of the attack on his village and his father's death Duncan returns home. His mother forces Duncan to take his fathers sword. Duncan goes in search of Kanwulf the Viking who killed his father.

Duncan feels the presences of one of his kind. Still not knowing what he is, he fails to recognize the warning. He battles him, thinks he has killed Kanwulf. Takes Kanwulf's axe to bury with his father.

Duncan has been immortal for 3 years still not knowing what he is. He encounters a strange Hermit living in a cave. The Hermit predicts he will face a great evil. He also predicts he will meet his teacher soon. The Hermit cuts of his own head and Duncan experiences his first quickening.  watcher cd, (Connor is drawn to Duncan and meets him as he leaves the hermits cave.)

Duncan is being stalked by death, he doesn't know what to do so he seeks his teacher Connor MacLeod for help. This is exactly what Martin Hyde an immortal hunter wants him to do, so Hyde may challenge Connor.

watcher cd  (Connor has taught Duncan all he can and sends him away.)  Duncan encounters his first pre-immortal, but doesn't recognize the feeling until Devon Marek dies and comes back as a full immortal.  

Duncan in his wanderings encounters a mob trying to kill one of his kind, because of superstition. This he can relate to so he helps Ursa. He discovers Ursa has been living in a cave. He brings him to a monastery, were the gentle giant will be safe.

Duncan meets his first immortal women. Amanda and her teacher Rebecca. Amanda steals Duncan's purse but he gets wise. He offers to buy them both a drink. Thus begins the 4 century immortal love affair between Duncan and Amanda.

Duncan meets immortal Hugh Fitzcairn...who will become one of his best friends. He also starts on his quest for knowledge. He will begin to learn to read and write.

While in Milan Duncan and Fitz are attacked by enemies. In the fight a watcher is accidentally killed. This is Duncan's first look at the watcher symbol. He will not learn what it means for many years to come.

Duncan tries to protect Kyra from some men in an inn. Then Duncan realizes she doesn't need any help. Kyra is an immortal woman perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Duncan learns another lesson about the woman of his kind.

Duncan learns about honor from Hamza while traveling with him. Xavier St. Cloud a moor head hunter has challenged Hamza.  Hamza knows he can not beat St. Cloud so he prepares to run. Duncan takes the challenge instead, but Hamza cannot allow Duncan to die for him.

After being challenged and losing to Haresh Clay, Duncan's teacher Graham Ashe begs for his life. While Duncan cowers on holy ground. Immortal battle is a duel to the death.

The game has broken Duncan's trust, he goes into sanctuary were Brother Paul tries to help him heal. Unfortunately Duncan discovers that Brother Kalas is taking heads on the side. Timmon teaches Duncan to read English...his first book "MacBeth" of course.

Duncan has met Kristin who will teach him the social graces. But she is a very possessive immortal and tries to own Duncan.

Kristin tries to hold Duncan by hiring an artist to paint his portrait.  He falls in love with her.  When Kristin finds out she murders her and goes for Duncan's head.

Duncan feeling another of his kind is near investigates. Hearing a woman scream he rushes into a cottage to find Grace a mid-wife tending to a birth. The fact that immortals can't have children makes Duncan regret. He spends time with Grace until he needs to wander again.

Duncan has come to visit his friend John Garrick. But he finds Garrick on trial for witchcraft. He saw his wife and step child burnt to death from 20 miles away. Garrick is an immortal psyche and totally mad from grief. He almost gets Duncan burnt at the stake.

Duncan does a stint as a Shakespearean actor with Walter Brennan. In these days it was unseemly for a woman to appear on the stage. Men played all parts.

While teaching a young mortal Scot the art of war, Duncan is challenged by another immortal. A rule of combat is that there can not be interference by others, it is a one on one battle. The young Scot will not leave, and Duncan is forced to knock him out. The rules are the rules.

In the episode "Road Not Taken" Duncan is summoned back to China around 1777. Duncan mentions to Kiem Sun that they have not seen each other for 100 years. I believe this is the period were Duncan met Kiem Sun in China. We have 26 years here not documented.

Duncan and Fitz are in love with Gina. But she marries Robert. Mortal marriage is hard enough but marriage that will last centuries?

According to watcher cd Duncan encounters his father in1622 yet he says he survived a winter away from his clan.  I make his encounter with Ian 1623. Watcher Chronicle states that Duncan's first death was October 1622. One hard winter brings us to 1623.  It works.

Moved Grace to 1660 because that's where the Chronicle puts her.

Except for adding links to flashback scenes and episode guides as they become available,  the 1600 are complete.
