Windows 95 only I'm afraid
To adjust your Screen Settings you should have your Windows Install Disks or CD handy. It might ask for them.
CLOSE ALL PROGRAMS FIRST
Sometimes programs need to be restarted to use the new video modes.
DON'T DO IT YET
WRITE THESE NEXT INSTRUCTIONS DOWN ON PAPER
Sometimes Windows lets you do things that you should not. Changing your video settings MIGHT leave you with NO DISPLAY. If your display is corrupted by these procedures
Leave it alone for 30 seconds - It sometimes fixes itself
Restart Windows - It may work ( power button if you can't see anything - ugly but sometimes you can't help it )
Restart Your computer again
HERE WE GO
RIGHT CLICK on the DESKTOP | SELECT | PROPERTIES |
then | CLICK | SETTINGS |
then | SELECT | HIGH COLOR (16 bit) or higher from color palette |
then CLICK OK | HOPE | Your computer supports this setting |
You can change your Screen Resolution here as well. This changes the amount of information you can fit on your screen.
Remember : The HIGHER the screen resolution, the FEWER colours you can display. Most computers today will support HIGH COLOUR ( 16 bit ) and 800 x 600 resolution. This is a good starting resolution.
Some Windows games will complain / not run / not run well, unless you set your display to 640 X 480 with 256 colours. This is CRAP video for general use so set it higher when you have finished.
You may need to restart your computer.
You may need to adjust the controls on your monitor.
