This section is devoted to other peoples musings on all things Warhammer 40,000, as well as my own rants and raves. This seems to be a feature becoming very popular on Warhammer 40,000 web pages these days. I have decided to rant on about the Chaos Codex especially. I mean this is a Chaos Page, it would be pretty stupid of me to blather on and on about Ultramarines and Leman Russ battle tanks, now wouldn't it? Of course, I'm going to do that anyway.
I'm getting sick and tired of people slamming the Dark and Blood Angels. They say, "Why bother? They're just Ultramarines in red/green!" Well, first of all, I think the background is a big part of the game, and the Angels of Death have a unique background that makes them well worth fielding (even if they are loyalist pansies). You can't just look at the statistics of the troops, you've got to look at the background and so-called "fluff", both when designing an army and formulating tactics. Otherwise, you're not a Brother-Captain anymore, you're John Smith, geek and power player extrodinare. Playing like that takes a lot away from the game. Having said all that, the Angels of Death have subtle but important distinctions that make them different from the Boys in Blue. The Dark Angels have their Deathwing and Ravenwing. The immunity of their Terminators to psychology and fast-moving, skillful bikers means that they can be a good choice for fighting massed nasties like the Tyranids. The Blood Angels have some great assault troops that you can upgrade to veterans to hit enemy weak points, and their Death Company can do much the same thing. In my not-so-humble opinion, both chapters have color schemes much better than those of the Ultramarines, and anyone who really wants to be faithful to the pathetic "Emperor of Mankind" and his boot-licking toadies would be well advised to chose one of these chapters.
And another thing (gasp, no!). People who have played Games Workshop games for a long time will have noticed that the prices of Citadel minatures have been getting higher and higher. Sure they're great minis, but not all of us have hundreds to spend. So, a word of advice. Buy Daemonblade or Heartbreaker minatures instead. You can see pictures of them on the company web sites. I'm not exactly sure where said web sites are, so go to Infoseek to find them.
What? My own stuff getting a little too weird for you? Well maybe you should go to the Stream of Corruption run by good old Papa Nurgle. He's got some truly mind-blowing insights into life, the universe, and everything.
