STARFORTRESS CORRINE
The home base of the 4th Legion of KLAW Naval Forces

Orbiting the frozen iceworld of Icedblade is the naval headquarters of the 4th Legion, Starfortress Corrine. The starfortress functions as the primary support base for the vessels of the 4th Legion, in comparision the marine support fortification on the planet below, Strikebase Vengeance.

The Starfortress is capable of providing support for four battle squadrons, some twenty four ships, although the station has not seen anything near that much activity since the destruction of Praxis over eightyfive years ago.

The station consists of a central spire and seven sections or "hubs". The first section is the command hub, which comprises the uppermost section of the fortress. The Command Hub contains a vast sub-space communications array and master command and control center, used to direct large naval forces into combat. It is the most heavily shielded area of the station and its hull holds nearly half of the stations defense disruptors. During an emergency the command hub can seperate from the central spire and move at 1/2 Impulse.

The next section is the Main Docking Hub. This section is used by the large capitol ships of the Legion. There are six docking slips available for personnel transfers, cargo and marine freezer loading, and minor repairs. Repairs are handled by a trio of repair tenders, although anything major needs to be done at an appropriate repair facility.

Just below the Main Docking Hub is the cargo hub. This large open section holds the vast majority of the supplies needed to support the legions vessels and marine forces.

Next down the central spire is the Habitation Ring. This area serves are the crew quarters for the stations personnel and can accomidate the crews of a number of vessels. This Hub also holds training centers, holo-decks, drinking establishments and a small religious shrine. Since the Starfortress is usually located on some remote corner of the Empire, it needs to be able to supply recreation and similar distractions during extended tours on the frontier. These facilities are all the more important since Strikebase Vengeance has nothing remotely similar, and one can find large numbers of both Marine and Naval troops carousing the hub at all hours. Needless to say Legion Security maintains a large presence here.

Down the spire is the Secondary Docking Hub. This hub has twelve docking slips and is used by scout class vessels, warpshuttles and gunships.

Located just below the Secondary Docking Hub is the Marine Force Ring. This section once served as the headquarters for the Legion Marine Force Leader and temporary quarters for marine troops moving through the station on their way to their vessel assignments. Currently the hub is used to store marine freezers units until they can be loaded onto the ships.

The Central Spire itself is packed full of personnel and cargo turbolifts, power generation systems and shield units. The engineering staff that is tasked with maintaining the central spire must crawl within the maze of access passageways and tubes to move within the spire. The station is quite old and has been heavily modified, access tubes have been blocked completely during modifications and tech updates and improvements, even minor repairs can quickly become large jobs. The enitre apparatus appears to be held together in jury rig fashion, and even the most senior engineer cannot always locate a specific system when routine maintenance is needed. Duty within the Central Spire is considered quite hazardous and is not looked upon favorable by the stations engineers.
