Built within the bedrock of an Ice world, in the Reshtarc Controlled H'Roth System by ReCAL Industries four years ago
and leased to the Empire, Strikebase Vengeance was designed to be the
forward strike base for incursions into the area of space known as the
Triangle and those enemy territories around it. The Marines are not kept
frozen, as the areas of possible conflict are only a short travel away.
Vengeance was originally intended to become a Defense Complex and Theater
Wide Command Post, featuring a vessel repair and resupply station, but
construction was halted after the construction of the strikebase and its
occupation by Imperial Forces.
The planet Icedblade ,officially H'Roth 4; is an inhospitably world. It was blown from its
original orbit closer to the primary star of the system by the collision of
the two nearer planets. Moved into an orbit that was too far to maintain
the once temperate climate, most of the native life soon died off, only a
few predatory animals still live near the equatorial areas, where
summertime temperatures reach just over freezing.
The two planets causing the initial damage currently reside within the
H'Roth System in the form of a dense asteroid belt at the systems edge. The
routes into the planet are kept open and stable by the liberal use of
tractor beams and force fields. The asteroid field itself is littered with
gunnery posts and small photon cannons, making an imposing curtain of
defense. In a dire emergency, the entry passages can be closed off
resulting in an almost impassable barrier for all but the most
maneuverable and small sized ships.
The base itself is a sprawling underground complex. Miles and miles of tunnels interconnect the separate sections of the base to one another via high speed trams. Each sub-base, of which there are nine, the largest at the center, and the other eight radiating out from the center like the spokes of a wheel. Every sub-base has its own power generation station, life support, shielding and defense cannons. A sub-base has the capabilities to maintain and provide living quarters and holographic training facilities for up to 50,000 Marines each (although normally less than 30,000 are housed, or 1/3 of a division), and is also equipped with five separate underground spacecraft hangers and equipment garages to provide each regiment with transport capabilities and storage space. The Strikebase can accomadate three Imperial Marine Divisions, although currently only one Imperial Marine Division, the 8th "Disciples of Annihilation" is housed here. Three sub-bases have been currently vacated since the 13th "Stormtroopers of Doom", which was reassigned, and the remaining three sub-bases are occupied by Reshtarc Troops.
The Center base is home to the Command Staff of the 4th Legion, and the Strikebase Commandant and his Headquarters. This massive structure also contains the bases main hanger bays, the hyper-encapsulation center, living space for all support personnel, and security staff. The Headquarters is a massive five story complex in its own right. It displays the current readiness of the Strikebases personnel, real-time data on any and all ongoing battles being fought by Vengeance and Legion Troops, and all current Imperial conflicts, upon huge view screens and holographic projectors. The support staff is arrayed in tiered workstations on the floor level and on balconies overlooking the entire room. The command station of the Legion Marine Force Leader is situated near center with a large balcony overlooking the entire headquarters.
ReCAL (Reshtarc Combined Arms Limited) has recently upgraded the Strikebase Defense Systems and building a small transport vessel ship yard in orbit of Icedblade, as well as a large base of operations for use by Reshtarc Personnel called only Outpost 26.
