First! How I started playing MUD!!!
For about two weeks or so I'd overheard my friends "Hansolo" and "Miyamoto" talking about this game they found on the internet. When they said things like "and then I killed the dragon and it got me about 2 levels" I started getting really curious so one rather booring day sometime in february 1995 I sat down for the first time in front of one of the newly installed internet computers in school and started typing.
Well....
At first there were some problems. I tried to start the game but since
it was one of those telnet who does'nt understand the key "enter"
I had some difficulty getting started. But after about 20 minutes I got
some help from Hansolo and there I was. A newbie! I called myself Moiraine
and I was confused. About 2 minutes after my first login I met a rabbit.
"kill the rabbit"
Well something caught my attention outside this MUD so when I got back the rabbit was gone, but there was a corpse that I did'nt pay much attention to. I went on for half'n hour when suddenly someone came flying in from the sky (Heh, Immortals can do such neat tricks;-) ).
"Sparricorn looks at you and says: Do you know you're dead? You have to find a church and pray."

Ehhhhh??? Suddenly I was moved with magic and when I looked around I found that I was in the church where I'd started. I prayed and my soul floated back into real flesh again. Phew! Now thats what I call an adventure. I had to get a break but the next day I was back in front of that computer.
Now I knew what to do so I started to kill just about anything or rather tried . There was approximately 'bout 20 corpses of Moiraine in that MUD at the same time ;-). Now that did'nt discourage me so I walked on totally lost in the woods (about 8 steps north of the part i DID know ;-) ) when another Immortal came along.

He thought it be a good idea for me to have a sword perhaps? Hmmm, OK! All Gods and Imms, don't read this part.
Humle gave me a sword. It was magic ;-) When I had it wielded and said "fire" it sort of came alive and started to kick ass of my enemy REALLY good. My newly found friend then moved me to newbie-place with a lot of creatures called "fjantar" (Since I'm now and forever part of a guild called Stengillet "DÖD ÅT DET ONDA" I seemed to always get those fjantar confused with another guild called Filurer ;-) ). I slaughtered for a while.
Moiraine was eventually engaged to a nice guy called Scorpius, but since it got booring just standing on one spot talking I broke that up and started playing under the name Eowyne.
But that's another story!
MUD is short for Multi Users Dungeon, and its a playground for all of us crazy fantasylovers with that great passion for reading and roleplaying. There are many different kinds... Moo's Mush Muck and so on, but I'm stuck on Mud... You can just about anything and be just about anyone... Now aint that freedom ?
