Episode 2: Xa Fel, Part 1: Battle of the Big Ships
GM's Note: This is the first adventure where Estalan Sunrider and Bobka joined the party. Estalan eventually became a permanent edition.
Daala and Everlight exit hyperspace in the Obroa-skai system to find an unwelcome site. Four Imperial Scout vessels are trying to escape a New Republic Patrol. The Kestrel II
is right in the flight path of the Scouts to their hyperspace
jump. Daala manages to disable one of the Scouts and it careens
toward the planet Obroa-skai. Daala and Everlight dock with the Mon Calamari MC-80a Cruiser
Orion and drop off the supplies. They are both promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and are given
a handsome reward for rescuing Fey'lya. This allows Daala to pay off the Kestrel II, which was
on loan from the New Republic, and allows Everlight to upgrade Speak to be better prepared to fly the
Kestrel II in emergency situations.
With their new ranks and salaries, Lt. Daala and Lt. Everlight enjoy
several days of down time. They are summoned by Commander Ariana Ap Lyffed (who becomes Daala's love interest)
7 days later and are informed that Councilor Leia Organa Solo was attacked
while on a diplomatic mission to Bimmisaari. Lt. Daala and Lt. Everlight
receive a new mission profile from Crix Madine based on the information
in the data banks of the recovered Scout Ship. The Scout Ship was part of the complement
of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Chimaera. With a little searching, the New Republic Techs
managed to trace this Star Destroyer as under the command of
Grand Admiral Thrawn. This information was dismissed, however,
because all Grand Admirals were supposedly accounted for. Taking
precautions however, Madine formulated a special mission on the
planet Xa Fel, where the Scout Ship was scheduled to conduct it's next mission.
Xa Fel was one of the major manufacturers of hyperdrives for the
Kuat Drive Ship Systems. Madine believed that the Xa Fel were secretely smuggling hyperdrives
to Imperial sources. It was the job of Lt. Everlight, Lt. Daala and Commander Ap Lyffedto stop them.
Daala and Everlight were briefed by Captain Xavier Trent, Captain of the Orion,
and a later advisor to the group. The group would accompany a New Republic task force to Xa Fel. The mission was to infiltrate the Kuat Drive Manufacturing plant on Xa Fel,
obtain proof that Drives were being smuggled, and terminate the operation at the source. The mission was to leave in 8 hours.
At this time, Daala and Everlight were introduced to the NRI agent Estalan Sunrider who had been running the
spy operation on the drives from out of a Cantina on Xa Fel, and Bobka, a Mon Cal Technician. Sunrider later became a permanent addition to the group.
Upon arriving at Xa Fel, the Crew of the Kestrel II read the data information gathered from the Imperial
Scout Vessel. To their surprise, the Computer systems of the ship detected a powerful enkryption of data in the files.
They soon realized that the Xa Fel reference was a diversionary tactic. Trent did
not believe them initially, but when the task force got word that an Elomin Assault Frigate Group was destroyed
back at Obroa-skai, it became brutally clear. The NR task force proceeded to prepare to go back to Obroa-skai to lend assistance, promising Daala, Everlight, and Ap Lyffed they would return to pick them up.
