GM's Note: Nectar Soon makes his first appearance in this Episode. In game time, Parts 1 and 2 of this Episode happened at the same time, but were split up over two RP sessions. Therefore, although Part 1 is entitled "Battle of the Big Ships", this section of the story line continues into, and is finished in, Part 2 of the Episode.
Upon reaching the planet's surface, the group proceeded to infiltrate the factory. Estalan got through the security and they entered into a main assembly line area on the first level.
A large cargo lift and a turbolift were at opposite corners of the factory. The group opted to take both, for an element of surprise.
Bobka and Lt. Daala took the turbolift. Estalan, Ariana and Everlight took the lift.
Upon reaching the second floor, Everlight sensed a slight disturbance in the Force and was drawn to the third floor. Estalan told him to wait, but Everlight left.
To his horror, Estalan looked out a window to see an AT-AT. It slowly creeped toward the building and fired on Sunrider and Commander Ap Lyffed, who narrowly escaped.
At the same time, Daala and Bobka ran into a group of thugs at the top of the turbolift. They exited level 2 and had a short fire fight with several Rodians, Xa Fel, and humans. Bobka suffered a small wound. They tied up one of the Rodians for later questioning.
Lt. Daala and Bobka proceeded into the southern corridor that connected to the Drive Storage room. They met up with Ap Lyffed and Sunrider and went up to Level 3. Everlight was lightsaber dueling with a shady figure. This figure, Nectar Soon, was more powerful than Everlight. Soon tried to convince Everlight to join him, but Jovan held fast to his knowledge of the Light Side of the Force. Daala shot Soon to save Everlight from Soon's deadly lightsaber strikes. Soon proceeded to
use the Force to cloud the mind of Daala, allowing him to escape through a hidden escape tunnel.
The group went to the records room where, after splicing the data banks, they found out some valuable information. They did not realize it's significance at that time. The files were the personal files of Nectar Soon and identified several of his contacts.
To make matters worse, Commander Ap Lyffed identified an Imperial Strike Armada that just cleared the planet
Xa Fel bound for the New Republic Fleet on a direct intercept course.
The NR fleet had not left and they were under attack! The core of this Armada was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer and two Victory Star Destroyers. The NR fleet's only large Capital vessel was the Orion. The NR Fleet was greatly out-gunned, and an Interdictor
Cruiser prevented their escape.
Meanwhile, the group on Xa Fel found out that one of Grand Admiral Thrawn's confidants, Deesna Fen, was an affiliate of Nectar Soon and that Soon was interested in the existence of a possible Jedi Holocron on Sluis Van. This new information would prove useful in the future, but the group had a lot more to worry about. A garrison of Imperial Storm Troopers was approaching the building and more drop ships landed. The group managed to escape the factory in time for it to be blown up by the Imperials, trying to kill them. The Imperials had completed the mission for them.
The Battle above the planet raged on. Through superb tactical skills, Captain Trent managed
to save the NR Fleet, but the Orion was damaged beyond repair and had to be evacuated. As if a pleading to the Force itself was answered, the newest edition to the New Republic Fleet exited hyperspace. The MC-90 cruiser Defiance proceeded to pummel the ISD with Ion cannon shots, disabling it. The remainder of the Imperial fleet escaped into hyperspace, severely damaged.
