Episode 3: The Leptam System
Part 1: Jail Nerfs aka Daala Tastes Bacta
GM's Note: Koryo Dynasty makes his first appearance, as well as M'rile. Koryo became a permanent addition to the group. This Episode was played over 5 weeks, every Friday or Saturday. It was the most frequent and intense Role-playing I have ever done. Jovan Everlight sat this Episode out, as it was Winter break and he lives 150 miles away.
Upon leaving the planet Xa Fel, the Kestrel II docks with the MC-90 Cruiser Defiance to receive repairs.
Captain Trent, named Captain of the Defiance due to his valiant effort above Xa Fel and loss of the Orion, debriefed the group and told them that their mission was "successful yet sloppy". He gives the
group a new mission. It is a short data transfer to a classified
operative on Leptam, main world in the Leptam system. After the short mission they could enjoy a week's down-time.
Leptam is an Imperial held world (militarily) whose political affiliation was with the New Republic. They will be accompanied by a squad of X-wings to clear a path to transmit the data. After a short briefing, the group accompanies Commander Lyffed on board the captured Star Destroyer to question the Skipper, Vice Admiral Slade.
They proceed through the vessel without resistance and interrogate Slade, using an Imperial Interrogation Droid which the group keeps, as well as an R2 Astromech they name "Data". They find that Slade
is not directly connected with Grand Admiral Thrawn and he tells a little of Nectar Soon's plans on Sluis Van. Everlight would find this information most valuable.
Before leaving for Leptam, Daala inquires several Techs about Ariana. He manages to find out several rumors of her involvement with "Zero Squadron" and that she does not like to talk about it. He continues to pursue her as a love interest
to try to find more about a woman he finds most intriguing. After several more hours, the Kestrel II
leaves Xa Fel on the way to Leptam.
The group exits hyperspace to find their support group battling a Carrack-class light cruiser and its complement of four Tie Interceptors. During the battle,
the Carrack cruiser with it's new Heavy Turbolasers, but they also accidentally destroy the X-wing of M'rile, who flew into the path of one of the huge turbolasers, but was able to eject in time.
The Cruiser, with it's Interceptors destroyed and its shields weakened, jumped into hyperspace. The Kestrel II did not destroy ALL four Interceptors, however.
One remained heavily damaged and adrift in space. After picking up M'rile, they proceeded to capture the pilot. Everlight uses the famous Jedi Mind trick used by Ben Kenobi to convince the pilot to calm down and tell them his mission.
He doesn't say much, so the characters plant a bomb that could be triggered from the Kestrel II. Estalan manufactured the bomb so the sensors of the Kestrel II would recognize the transponder code of the Interceptor so the crew would know they could identify the that specific Interceptor and trigger the explosion.
That out of the way, Daala proceeded to transmit the message to the planet. As soon as they reached the largest port city, Leptami, Everlight left with a Z-95 Headhunter to continue his training with his Jedi Master. Even though this was an Imperial held world, it was not heavily guarded and the crew decided it would be safe to stay here until Everlight returned in about five days.
M'rile went off to a Passenger Transport to rejoin the New Republic Navy and Estalan went off on some unknown business. This left Daala to wander the streets, brush up on his Sabacc skills (winning many pots), and generally relaxing. Or so he thought.
Wandering through the bars, Daala encountered a cloaked figure. This mysterious person was talking angrily witha Rodian and later strangled him by raising him off the floor and then dropped him. Daala went to question the Rodian before he died (his neck snapped on the fall). Another figure, a Corellian, helped Daala. He identified himself as Koryo Dynasty,
an Ex-Imperial Commando who defected and was laying low in Leptami. He joined Daala for the R&R, but was soon caught up with every danger a New Republic Officer didn't want.
Daala was approached by a Bothan in a dark corner of the city later that day that identified himself as having a contact that wished to meet a New Republic Affiliate. The closest thing in the city was Daala. The Imperials, however, discovered Daala and Dynasty were working together and immediately went after them.
Being chased through the streets of Leptami, Daala and Dynasty made a stand in a warehouse. Daala was wounded after several shots were exchanged, but Dynasty, in true military fashion, cleared all of the impending Storm Troopers out with a well placed Fragmentation grenade. Daala limped out of the warehouse with Dynasty to
find they were cornered by two Chariot LAV troop transports. The transports fired their large laser cannons at Daala and Dynasty. Some of the shots hit the Duracrete of the buildings causing it to come crashing down on the duo. Daala couldn't dodge the large rocks and was mortally wounded by a severe blow to the head. Dynasty could do nothing but surrender.
Dynasty was thrown into an Imperial Penal Facility for questioning. As the sun set on a long day, all Daala could see was a soupy liquid...Bacta.
