The Crew of the Kestrel II

Captain Adar Daala

Background: Adar Daala was a free-lance smuggler and pirate before he joined the New Republic shortly before Grand Admiral Thrawn's rise to power. Adar was raised on Alderaan by his mother when his parents separated. He is named after the Old Republic hero, Adar Talon, and is the younger brother of Admiral Daala. In his early pirating days, he shared a smuggling partnership with Bandos Lima (a childhood friend), and Dowlacca, a wookiee mechanic. In a battle with the Empire, the Kestrel I, the first ship used by the group, was destroyed. Daala's current freighter is actually his second ship to bear the name Kestrel and is formally known as the Kestrel II.

Interesting facts: Adar has an amazing 10D+1 for his modified heavy blaster pistol, making him a crack shot and a deadly threat to any stormtrooper that happens to wander his way. In the game, Adar can never seem to make a running role when necessary and tends to fall flat on his face or get crushed by fallen rocks. On Sluis Van, his excellent placing of a thermal detonator caused the destruction of Nectar Soon's ship, the Dark Chariot. Adar is also a ladies man and can (or tries to) sweet talk every lady he meets. He has attained the rank of Captain from the New Republic, and is leader of the New Republic strike team Saber.

Jovan Everlight, Jedi Knight (played by Jason Schmick)

Background: Jovan is looking to become one of the famed Jedi Knight's of old. Jovan was born on the forest world Myrkr. It was not until he left Myrkr for the first time to seek his adult life that he realized he could do strange things. These strange happenings were the manifestation of a strong link to the Force that Jovan had been blind to. The ysalamari of Myrkr had been keeping him from his true calling—the Knighthood. Jovan is very near to reaching his goal, and is utilizing the guidance of the Jedi Master Johann Quininesti to help him become a Jedi Knight.

Interesting facts: Almost all of Jovan's Force Skills are at 7D. He has many Force Powers (some not included in the SW: The RPG 2nd edition book). Jovan used telekinesis to skillfully save the entire party during a mission to Prexiar. Combine this with a lightsaber skill of 8D (which Jovan has skillfully used to topple a guard tower and slice through a few stormtroopers) and you have a powerful Jedi Knight. Jovan, due to his heroics on a mission to the Xa Fel system, was awarded the rank of Lieutenant by the New Republic. Jovan is currently being stalked by the dark Jedi Nectar Soon. Will Jovan defeat this dark-sider? Only time, and the Force, will tell...

UPDATE: By defeating Nectar Soon on Sluis Van, Jovan is now a full-fledged Jedi Knight! In a climactic battle, Jovan took Soon's left hand and right leg below the knee to recover one of the few lost Jedi Holocrons. But don't worry all of you dark side sympathizers: this is not the last you will see of Nectar Soon! (I just love cybernetics, don't you?)

Lieutenant Commander Koryo Dynasty (played by Jon Eilbes)

Background: Koryo Dynasty was born on Corellia. He joined the Imperial Army when he was still quite young and served as a Commando in one of the Empire's elite army teams. When the Empire denied involvement in a raid that cost hundreds of lives on Kwixod V, Koryo decided that the prestige of the army wasn't worth the needless death and went AWOL. He met up with the Crew of the Kestrel II on the Leptam mission, recognizing Adar Daala from the news (by this time Adar was seriously wanted by the Empire). Koryo is trying to lay low, as his capture by Imperial forces would mean certain death.

Interesting facts: Koryo's addition to the group had added much needed firepower. He can use most weapons and is especially fond of throwing frag grenades into large congregations of Imperials. Koryo is one of the few that can say they took on a Noghri in hand-to-hand combat and lived (He shot one and let one escape). Koryo's favorite toy is his newly acquired MerrSonn PLX-4 Missile Launcher (with smart rockets). He used the launcher on Sluis Van to disable the Dark Chariot as it threatened impending doom on Saber team. Due to his superb effort in helping to liberate the Leptam system, Koryo was awarded the rank of Lieutenant Commander by the New Republic.

Commander Estalan Sunrider (played by Matt Sund)

Background: Estalan hails from Alderaan. His past is somewhat obscured because he was a New Republic Intelligence agent before being assigned with the crew of the Kestrel II on a mission to Xa Fel. He has been with the group ever since. It is rumored that Estalan spent some time in the Corporate Sector, and that he is a descendent of Nomi Sunrider, but no evidence has ever been brought up to support these claims.

Interesting facts: It isn't surprising that Estalan was an NRI agent. He can forge documents with ease and can track subjects easily with his military issue surveillance equipment. This equipment has saved his life more than once, alerting him to the presence of Klecser before she could capture him with a glop grenade on Sluis Van. Estalan used his rocket pack to make a swift exit from a building on Leptam to more effectively pursue an Imperial assassin. During the Battle of Leptam, one of his well-placed shots from the Kestrel II's capital-scale turbolasers destroyed an Imperial-class Star Destroyer and a Strike-class cruiser. Wow! (Lucky shots.) My new Capital Ship Combat System will make sure that rarely happens again! For his superb efforts in liberating Leptam, Estalan earned the influential rank of Commander from the New Republic (and a huge price on his head from Grand Admiral Thrawn's minions).

Other crew

Bobka

Bobka, a Mon Cal, was a short addition to the team until after the Xa Fel mission. Bobka was greatly useful in that he personally knows Admiral Ackbar. He helped in firing the Kestrel II's weapons.

M'rile

A sassy X-wing pilot, M'rile was ambushed in the Leptam system, drawing the group to Leptam in the process. In a spectacular battle, M'rile's X-wing got in the way of a laser blast from the Kestrel II and was destroyed. He was later reassigned to a different X-wing detail.
