In the mid twenty-fourth century we find the crew of the Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) on patrol near the neutral zone. Captain Picard has been having mysterious dreams concerning his experience with the borg He discovers why when he is contacted by starfleet, the borg have crossed the border into federation space. Although a fleet is being gathered to repel the attack, the Enterprise is ordered to patrol the border of the neutral zone. But Picard, who is determined he can provide invaluable imformation in the attack, directly disobeys orders and heads for earth. With his assistance, the fleet destroys the borg cube. But as it explodes a small sphere escapes from the burning vessel. It creates a temporal vortex catching the Enterprise in it's wake. The crew sees the new earth, twisted, assimulated, population nine billion...all borg. As Picard takes it all in he decides. We must follow them back! Repair whatever damage they've done......
