Gronk started his life among others of his kind, living near the teton mountain range. His parents were killed by an unknown group of adventurer's when he was only 1 year old. The surviving killers left in a panic (as they just barely won the fight) fearing that other giants might be in the area. Gronk, who was in hiding in the cave that his family used as a home, was eventually found wandering in the wilderness by a family of Cactus people who took him in for a brief period before finally giving him to one of the many travelling side-shows of the area.
For years Gronk worked with this group of "freaks" and "misfits", eventually becoming one of the biggest acts in the show. Gronk became as "Ted the Tank - the greatest wrestler/boxer of the west!" His portion of the show was to challenge to anyone in the audience who thought that they could beat him to come up in the ring and spar with him, if they won they would receive 50,000 credits in gold. No one ever won against "Ted the Tank" in either wrestling, boxing, or arm wrestling. The owner of the show, seeing Gronks higher than average intelligence, told Gronk to play dumb in his act since most people would probably fall or it and think that they might be able to beat Gronk by out-smarting him. Gronk tried it and liked it. Most people were to underestimate Gronks intelligence, and Gronk felt that this was something he could use to his advantage in the future.
His showbiz career ended when he was 16 years old. Being more intelligent than the average mountain giant (by now he knew what he was) he wanted to see others of his kind. He felt out of place among the humans and other species that were a part of the show. So he left the show (on good terms with the people there) to travel and find others of his kind so that he might learn of who he was. He found some other mountain giants and lived with them for over a year, learning about them and about himself. His baser instincts came to the surface and he realized this was who he was. His time with the other mountain giants ended when he realized that he wanted more from life then they did. so he set out in search of what ever he could find.
Gronk was hired (by those that didn't run away from him) to an assortment of different jobs. Most of these involved some form of protection or extortion (ie: bodyguard, hired thug) and on one occasion as a mercenary.
It was during this brief mercenary career that Gronk won his suit of Titan plate armor. A new titan juicer had just joined with the mercenary company and, feeling a little over-confident, challanged Gronk to "any feat of strength that his simple mind could comeup with". Gronk, playing dumb, sat in the middle of the camp pretending to think for 2 hours. The rest of the company was making bets about who would win, when Gronk got back up and asked the Juicer "What Gronk get if he win?" The Juicer asked Gronk what he wanted, it didn't matter what he asked for because the juicer figured he was going to win. Gronk poked him in the chest plate of the titan plate armor and said "Gronk want that suit." To which the juicer agreed.
The juicer then asked Gronk what the challange was to be. Gronk scrqatched his head in thought and and proudly announces that the challange is an arm wrestling contest. Gronk wins the contest without any problem and the juicer has to be persuaded by some of the other merc's to pay up his bet, which he eventually and grudgingly does.
Since that time Gronk has roamed all over the west and parts further east, traveling with other adventurers (well those that could put up with him) and eventually ending up in the Federation of Magic where he works as menial labour and an occasional body guard. He always uses his dumb act around new people.
