The Jungle-elves

The jungle elves of Starshaper's holt live in the Forevergreen, next to the river of the High-One's Tears. They live somewhat like the humans in the Amazon, hunting with blow-darts and small bows, but they also fish in the waters of the river. Waterweed does a lot of the fishing and is the only elf in the tribe who knows how to fish with a bow. Their food is mostly fish, small game and whatever can be gathered from the surrounding forest. The adults wear stripes and swirls of black over their eyes and faces. This acts as camoflauge and is very helpful when trying to avoid humans. Oh yes, humans. There is a tribe of people who live in a village not too far from the Wolfriderlike homes of the elves. They like to kill the elves and steal their possessions. If the humans capture an elf, they take it back to the village and torture it to death. Once the elf has died of the injuries (and the humans try their best to postpone death) the body is put into a pit and left until it decays and rots away. The bones of "jungle demons" are highly prized and are worn by the great hunters. Because of this, the elves do not want to be seen by the humans, dress accordingly.
Typical Jungle-Elf dress consists of green leathers and coarse, woven cloth. They make the cloth out of plant fibers and use the cloth for blankets, tents, etc. Their home is inside a huge tree similar to the Wolfrider Father Tree. Treeshapers have shaped boles and dens into the vine-covered tree, and the elves have lived there for as long as they can remember.
The crafts and arts they have are quite simple, yet beautiful. Weaver makes baskets out of long leaves and fibers of all sorts, from the ones that can hold water to the loose holding-baskets. The rest of the tribe appreciates it very much, as the hides the jungle provides for their use are not suitable for these purposes. Other crafts range from beaded spear hafts to feathered hair-ties.
