"Teen Pop Queen" may seem like a very transient title these days, what with all the various R&B and pop divas huddled near the top of the charts, but for the moment it seems that 17-year-old Britney Spears is music's reigning matriarch.
She's had the top-selling single in the country for the past couple of weeks with "Baby One More Time" and toured with fellow teen dreams 'N Sync, and now Spears is branching out into acting.
Spears once acted in an off-Broadway play when she was 10, but has now signed on for a series of upcoming appearances on a certain teen drama series, which she discussed recently with MTV's John Norris.
"There is some talk [for me to do some appearances on] 'Dawson's Creek,'" Spears said, "I love that show, and Katie Holmes. Yay!"
"What would the character be," Norris asked.
"We don't know yet," Spears said, "I just know it's probably going to be three episodes." [28.8 RealVideo]
Spears is expected to shoot her episodes of "Dawson's Creek" in March or April.
