My Commentary on their RelationshipAnother issue that comes up is Callisto. If you compare her to Xena they aren't that different. Remember her first appearence, "I'm good, as good as you" she said to Xena, well we saw later on in that episode that she was right. She did the flips and caught the chakram, just like Xena. She may be a god later, but she learned all those things as a mortal. The main problem I have is all the sexual tension between Ares and Xena. Yes, incest was common in Greek mythology, but today, it just doesn't agree with most people, myself included. Ares also had a fling with Xena, or at least Callisto in Xena's body. He clearly wanted Xena but her body was closest thing he could get. In the episode "Ten Little Warlords" he tried to kiss Xena while she was in Callisto's body, hmm...very suspicious. Another episode where we see this is "The Dirty Half Dozen". Ares and Agathon have a conversation in which Agathon pinpoints that Ares has "a hot spot for the killer babe", and also how he follows his "lower instincts". I agreed with Agathon. In the episode "The Quill is Mightier..." Ares describes Xena's leather in quite a seductive tone. Now, I know people out there argue that when he talks like this it's just about her warrior abilities, but come on people I think it's fairly obvious what he means. Let's not forget "Sacrifice II". Ares approaches Xena towards the end and says "You're the only mortal I know who can do that". Did he clear up the issue for us? I guess we're on our own to decide. In closing, Ares and Xena continue to have that trademark relationship that makes the show so interesting. All the chemistry between the two. Of course Lucy Lawless and Kevin Smith deserve the real credit for bringing to life two unforgettable characters. If Ares is Xena's father than somebody needs to hit themself over the head because they confused the whole situation a little too much for me. pictures | Gab's raps | sign the guestbook | view the guestbook |
