The top row is the Celestial World of the Fool (Everything's OK) and the Magician (Everything's Possible).

The second row belongs to the rulers of the Earthly Realm: King (Business and Politics), Queen (Family Life and Sustenance), Priest (Ritual), Priestess (Mystery), and Lovers (Romance). The King dominates the central position.

The third row represents the Dynamics of the Universe. It contains the Chariot (Space), Strength (Forces, Energy), The Wheel (Time), Justice (Equilibrium, Rule of Law), and the Hermit (The Will).

The fourth row contains the Infernal Realms of Resistance: The Hanged Man (Self-Contradiction), Death (Illusion of an End to Life), The Devil (Placement of the Will outside Oneself), The Tower (The Vanity of asserting Superior Importance), and Temperance (The Moderation of Fire and Water, Resistance and Persistence).

The fifth row is the Cosmic Realm governed in the central position by the Sun (Consciousness), with the Moon (Past) and the Stars (Future) extending in one direction and the Earthly World (Present Experience) extending in the other. Judgment (Belief formed by the Will) determines the subjective nature of the World in the cosmos and thereby enlivens possible ideas to come alive as experiences in the World.

The central column (Sun, Temperance, Hermit, and King) governs each level. The Fool and the Magician (Wizard) are transcendent, able to move effortlessly through all levels and beyond.
