Sailor Moon
the main character of the show; the show is about her!
In the orignal version, her name is Tsukino Usagi. In Japanese, the last name comes first, so her friends called her Usagi. Serna is a pretty girl with long blond pigtails. She is also Sailor Moon, the Moon Princess, Princess Serena, and the Queen of Crystal Tokyo: Neo-Queen Serenity. Sailor Moon is the first scout to be found by the guardian cat Luna. The Scouts (or "Senshi" ("Soldier") as they are called in Japanese) are the sworn protectors of the Moon Princess, daughter of the wonderful Queen Serenity. It is revealed later, however, that Serena is actually the Moon Princess, the most important girl in the whole galaxy! During a time of great peace and tranquility (called the Silver Millennium) ushered in by Serena's mother Queen Serenity, Princess Serena fell in love with the prince of Earth, Prince Darien (or, in Japanese, Prince Endymion.)
Three thousand years later, Serena is the Queen of Crystal Tokyo, Neo-Queen Serenity, and rules alongside her King, King Endymion. Obviously, this is Darien. They have a little daugher called Rini (Chibiusa in the Japanese). Crystal Tokyo is the great and peaceful future city of Tokyo.
In the present day, in her most familiar incarnation as the klutzy Serena, she loves boys, eating, shopping, and everything else that most girls do. She's amazingly silly and ditzy, definitely not the type you'd expect to be the savior of the world. In fact, she doesn't like her superpowers. She wants to have a normal life. Usagi is the leader of the Senshi, although her authority is challenged by both Sailormars and Sailoruranus at various times.
Serveral characters develop crushes on her at one time or another, including Darien/Mamoru, Melvin/Umino, Alan/Ail, Prince Diamond, Haruka/Sailoruranus, and Seiya/Sailor Star Fighter.
She has a talking cat named Luna, who is also her guardian, and who explains all these various incarnations as the show progresses.
