Shogun Warriors. The earliest robot toy I remember. Though I never had any myself (my mother wouldn't let me have toys that shoot!!!),
my friends did and they are awesome. Got that great 70's retro look! Although the price of these has really shot up the last few years.
Some of the toys I keep on the shelf above my computer. Note the Deluxe Drago (in Phormo mode)!
Took me 6 months to track that down.
Other side of the same shelf.
The Gakken Alpha Fighters. The large 3 are just about the same size as Jetfire and fully transformable. One is in each mode.
The middle-sized red one is half die-cast, but doesn't transform. The small green one transforms, but is a little lower quality.
I'm costantly amazing at what people pay for these as the prices continue to skyrocket. I used to say, "but well worth the cost!" After seeing an opened box/stickers applied red Alpha auction for close to $500 in mid 1999, I'm not so sure. I paid $40 for mine less than 2 years earlier.
Here is a group shot of most of my Robotech toys. These are the originals, not the Exo-squad remakes.
There is a noticeable quality difference.
1997's TRU Big Clearance was a great place to pick up some other robot toys. Super Human Samurai Syber Squad didn't last long,
but there were a few nice toy designs, Deluxe Drago being the best. This pic shows the Deluxe Drago in spaceship form.
Here is the Drago in dragon form. Roughly the same size as Trypticon. A little slimmer, but infinately more articulated.
Voltron, another great robot toy from the 80's. I hear the market for the originals has fallen through the floor
with the Trendmasters re-release. Why pay $100 for a used one when you can get a new one for $30?
Group shot of other robot toys I have picked up during my collecting. Don't even know what half of them are...
And the's a lot more than just robots out there. Here's a shot of the best of the "other" toys I added to my collection in 1997.
